BFS Credit Risk Strategic Statement: • To build solutions that accurately evaluate risk while optimizing the lending process to provide business owners with the appropriate amount of working capital at a fair price. • Build a thorough and robust framework to monitor and track asset quality and to identify risks and opportunities that will help Business Financial Solutions (BFS) achieve its financial goals. Design strategies to maximize risk adjusted returns and minimize expenses.

  • Responsible for building data driven strategies to identify the potential for credit abuse, intentional misuse of credit, and potential fraud as part of the underwriting process for PayPal Business Loan
  • Responsible for the ownership of models used to identify intentional misuse of credit.  Model Owners are accountable for:
    • Implementing and maintaining model development procedures to ensure models are compliant with the Policy
    • Owning the model risk associated the business strategy.
    • Ensuring their models are properly developed, implemented and used
    • Ensuring their models in use have undergone appropriate validation and approval processes
    • Ensuring the appropriate ongoing monitoring and tracking is completed for their models.
    • Ensuring vendor models are assigned to a Model Developer and comply with Policy requirements
  • Responsible for the ownership of strategies used to mitigate intentional misuse of credit risk.  Strategy Owners are accountable for:
    • Analyze and optimize the credit decision processes
    • Explore new data solutions to optimize model and strategy development
    • Access data, transform data into information, and convert information into actionable decision strategies
    • Contribute to the development of policies and procedure
    • Work closely with credit and fraud operations to align strategy, policy, and procedures between automated decisions and manual decisions
    • Communicates business trends, creates financial assessments, and interprets analytics for senior management
    • Creates business partnerships across the enterprise and demonstrates an aptitude of assessing financial performance and interpreting analytics
    • Influences strategic direction and develops tactical plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Decision Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Finance, or Economics.
  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Services, specifically within Credit Risk Management, Small Business, Commercial, or Consumer lending.
  • 5+ years of experience solving business problems leveraging data and analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience using SQL, SAS, R, Python, Xeno, MatLab, or similar data-mining and analytics applications.
  • Capable of completing descriptive, diagnostic, exploratory, predictive, and prescriptive analytical exercises.
  • Prior experience in machine learning techniques, such as Linear and Logistic Regression, Bayesian models, GLMs, SVM, LDA, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Neural Networks, Clustering, Time Series Analysis, Forecasting, Survival / Duration Analysis, or similar.
  • Proven ability to give meaning, insight, and purpose to information to drive business decisions.
  • Capable of managing change through typical strategy development lifecycle stages such as Ideation, Solutioning, Execution, and Go-To Market.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, problem-solving, time-management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to simply explain complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence critical business outcomes in a matrix based, global environment.
  • Aptitude and willingness to roll-up the sleeves and get involved in the details.
  • Highly curious with the desire to go deep beneath the surface to solve problems.
  • Must have good business judgment with demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically.
