Eaton’s Power Distribution and Controls Assemblies business within the Electrical Sector is currently seeking Custom Order Engineers to join our team. These positions can be based in one of our manufacturing locations in either Asheville, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Greenwood, SC, Omaha, NE, or Portland, OR. and will offer relocation assistance. Position Overview: The Customer Order Engineer is primarily responsible for providing electrical and mechanical design and documentation support for power distribution product lines. This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with application engineers, and manufacturing associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation. In this role you will: Consult with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications. Develop a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provides sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser’s equipment application. Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products. Advise Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing – when required – in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser’s requirements. Manage purchaser onsite visits to approve and/or release equipment for shipping. Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices. Demonstrate advanced computer skills with ability to learn required software (Bid Manager, AutoCAD, Design Automation, MAPICS). Consult with Quality in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required. Conduct special development/application projects of a complex nature. Inform cost and cycle time improvement activities. Conduct technical training guidance and seminars, as required. Analyze needs and recommends revisions to Department Policies and Procedures. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a focus in electrical, electronics, or mechanical from accredited institution, with a graduation no later than August 2023. Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing Internship/Co-Op experience. Knowledge of power distribution products (LV and MV Switchgear, Panelboards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, etc.). Experience with PLC or relay programming. Experience with AutoCAD. Project Management experience. Position Criteria: Strong analytical, computer, writing, presentation, and customer service skills. Ability to communicate technical information to customers and manufacturing. Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical engineering. Knowledge of design standards.
