YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position in located in Cary, North Carolina. 

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Customer Marketing Manager-Lawn and Ornamental, are to: 

 

  • Build, update, and lead the execution of 3-year customer segment strategies to drive value creation from a portfolio of products and services through effective communications, promotions, programs, and tools (e.g. CRM, 1:1 marketing), comprising of both push and pull strategies;
  • Segment customers to map-out customer needs and buying processes to drive desired customer behavior changes;
  • Provide monthly steering/guidance on campaign objectives and tactics to the US Turf and Ornamentals Leadership Team;
  • Establish and manage the Lawn and Ornamental Customer Advisory Boards to test concepts, develop insights and identify emerging trends;
  • Execute integration of customer input and customer segmentation strategies into marketing plans to maximize opportunities for customer acquisition, retention, cross-sell and up-sell;
  • Drive the execution of marketing programs and tactics (e.g. integrated offer, financial concepts, loyalty programs, digital marketing touchpoints.) to ensure that they meet customer needs and can be measured and evaluated for effectiveness;
  • Lead segment teams comprising of Field Sales and Technical Support to collect inputs to determine strategy and tactics, as well as lead the implementation of the campaign and CRM strategy with the sales force;
  • Participate/lead actively customer events, product and needs training and support product launches;
  • Set performance targets and review effectiveness of initiatives and tactics within markets;
  • Optimize resource allocation accordingly to achieve business goals;
  • Serve as lead for key Lawn and Ornamentals industry relationships (e.g. National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP)).

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing related discipline;
  • At least 10 years of relevant business experience;
  • Excellent oral, written and network communication skills to effectively inform and influence teams;
  • Be capable of building strategic relationships and influencing customer behavior via proper selection of influence tools such as digital platforms, media, events and direct sales contact;
  • Strong analytical and business modelling skills;
  • Aptitude to understand and create long-term strategic plans, including partnerships with groups preparing new products for testing and potential market launch;
  • A proven work history of acting as a team player with outstanding organizational and analytical skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with Marketing counterparts to maximize sales opportunities;
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills necessary to anticipate, preempt and deal with volatile, rapidly changing market conditions;
  • A history of successful efforts demonstrating "foresight" of market trends is expected;
  • General computer proficiency including standard email and business software (Microsoft Office), with a strength in Microsoft Excel;
  • Position's success is measured:
    • Annual net sales and profitability of the Turf &Ornamental Business;
    • Market share presence, Share of Wallet and Customer;
    • Retention/Acquisition within focus segments;
    • Management of business costs (program rebates, complaints, inventory management, etc.);
    • Management of internal budgets (advertisement, travel and expense, promotional, market research);
    • Design of effective end-user influence tools (to include marketing programs, advertising, events / trade shows, etc.).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced related degree (M.B.A.);
  • Experience in marketing with a proven ability to develop and implement strategic marketing plans and marketing campaigns;
  • Prior experience in environmental science markets, with an understanding of end-user and distribution channel needs and motivators.
