Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Customer Order Engineer to join our Engineering team. This position is based at our Edmonton, Alberta facility. Position Overview: The Customer Order Engineer’s primary function will be supporting Eaton Canada’s manufacturing facility in Edmonton, AB in providing timely and accurate engineering drawings, materials information, engineering, pre and post shipment product support (technical, application, etc.) for Marketing, General Sales Force (GSF), Customer Service, Electrical Systems & Services (EESS) and plant manufacturing. They will perform customer order engineering and lead multiple concurrent projects which include new, custom and customized low and medium voltage power distribution products. In this function you will: Manages customer order projects, with moderate level of guidance and direction. Work is reviewed on a regular basis. Reviews incoming orders for scope, application, configuration accuracy and compliance to customer specifications. Resolves non-compliant technical issues. Prepares accurate electrical/mechanical input engineering documents and instructions for preparation of approval, confirmation, construction, manufacturing, and as-built drawings. Efficiently creates own ACAD drawings as required. Creates accurate electrical component bills of material to fulfill order requirements Controls all changes through the change management process. Initiates PCNs and RFIs, as required. Ensures that output documents match customer requirements on assigned projects. Maintains attention to details. Collaborates effectively with team members, supply chain, production, suppliers, management, marketing, sales, EatonCare, field service and customers. Makes and keeps commitments. Operates with a sense of urgency to solve problems. Plans personal schedule and updates own and team milestone progress schedules daily. Maintains commercial and technical accountability for assigned projects. Conducts interim and final product inspections. Leads customer inspection and witness test. Assists the warranty administrator and the engineering field service representative in resolving customer field challenges and issues Provides feedback to Product Manager on new customer needs and applications. Supports and participates in the implementation of corporate initiatives and attainment of department and operations goals. Meets safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: University degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Physics Engineering. Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in the manufacturing or electrical power distribution assemblies and customer relations. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship. No relocation provided. Preferred qualifications: Certified Electrical Technologist or Professional Engineering designation. Knowledge in programming and troubleshooting PLC & HMI based systems. Experience working in a manufacturing plant. Lean Six Sigma green or black belt. Position Criteria: Demonstrated competence in using AutoCAD Electrical or other schematic/circuit-drawing software. Understanding of design for manufacturing and lean six sigma principles. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools. Self-motivated, energetic and capable of working in a very fast paced environment as part of a team and taking direction. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
