Eaton’s Commercial and Residential Division is currently seeking a Customer Order Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Hodges, SC facility. Position Overview: This position will provide professional engineering services to interpret customer drawings and specifications for manufacturing or related products; interact with sales force and customers on job specific details such as approvals and detail confirmation. Create engineering documentation for drafting, procurement, and manufacturing; provide coordination for technical guidance to production personnel as appropriate; support product marketing and provide negotiation and application support for field sales. In this function you will: Provide project management of orders to meet OTP objectives, reduce cycle times, manage changes to order requirements and assist with product warranty. Maintain current knowledge/expertise of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities, practices, market conditions, and channels. Provide engineering functions in support of product marketing, manufacturing, and sales in line with company and product line objectives. Serve as primary division contact for customers as technical liaison in all aspects of product application, performance, and compliance to specifications and solutions to complex customer problems Review and analyze product configurations and components, perform engineering calculations, and provide input to other departments including drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing personnel. Participate in company activities such as product design, market and product improvements, productivity, quality and safety improvements. Participate in customer project review/drawing approval meetings. Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned. Calculate, review, track and assign pricing based on agreed upon multipliers, and support additional actions where necessary such as bill of material comparisons and adder requests. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future No relocation assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Hodges, SC. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution One (1) year of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment Previous experience in a custom order engineering environment Experience with 3D CAD systems such as AutoCAD Inventor designing electro-mechanical assemblies One (1) year of experience in design of electrical distribution equipment or related products, project management and scheduling skillset Position Criteria: Experience with structure problem solving tools Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Willing to travel to support field measurement or assist customer troubleshooting. Up to 10%. Possess adequate project management skills to handle multiple projects at varying progress levels. Ability to document and clearly track changes as needed, including price assessment throughout design effort. Strong analytical, presentation and customer service skills. Ability to communicate technical information to customers and manufacturing. Ability to read, interpret and explain technical drawings. Why work at Eaton?
