Role Summary/Purpose:

Customs Region Leader position is responsible for managing and maintaining the business’ strategy as it relates to GE Transportation (GET) entities’ customs compliance and for both advising and enforcing GET policies and procedures covering the regulation of customs activity in support of the GET Global Customs Compliance Operating Policies and Strategies.

Essential Responsibilities:

ACTIVITIES:

• Administering Guidance and ensuring compliance with local customs regulations and business policy/procedure for all GET Profit & Loss (P&L) Centers and general Operations

• Coach & mentor direct reports

• Disseminate regulatory business guidelines

• Conduct cross-functional business customs training

• Operationalize the business customs vision

• Ensure establishment of Standard Work Processes in alignment with GET Global Customs Operating Policies

• Metrics Reporting

• Broker/Agent Management

• Liaison to the Global Customs Leader and local business stakeholders

• Customs issue resolution

• Drive process disciplines and time-lines

• Respond to customs related government inquiries as required

• Monitor legal and regulatory changes; communicate to management, staff and applicable company personnel

• Work with Information Technology (IT) personnel to develop and implement systems designed to facilitate customs practices and compliance

• Manage the outsourced customs service providers

• Work with, support and advise local and global cross-functional business teams to identify, assess, and develop action plans with respect to customs control set up, risk and abatement

• Update and maintain business customs landscape for countries within region.

• Driving customs business disciplines and engagement with diverse cross functional business teams

• Balancing commercial requirements with adherence to regulatory requirements
