High Level Function Overview

The Business Intelligence group within Science and Enabling Units IT (SEU IT) are responsible for:

• Design and delivery of all SEU (RnD, Medicine Development, Finance, HR, Compliance, Legal and Medical) business intelligence solutions: Reporting and Analytics applications
• The Information Architecture (data models, data standards and data flows) of the EUGG estate.
• Support, service and ongoing improvements of all SEU applications
• Associated supply of technical resources and sourcing of BI technology
• Coordination across the AZ BI community, both in business and in other IT areas.

The lead is a key role in the delivery of end-to-end BI solutions, working in partnership with the Hub based Engineering and Analytics teams. The role will have accountability for capability leadership and line management of the Data and Analytics Reporting, Data Engineering and Data Analyst teams in Chennai.

The three teams that would be run by the lead will include

• Reporting team - The team would be involved in Development and Maintenance of designing, developing and supporting reports, dashboards and visual analytics environments using OBIEE, MicroStrategy, Spotfire, QuickSight and D3.js
• Data Engineering team - Providing standardised data services (raw data services (Data Lake), operational data stores, data marts and ETL processes as well as the EUGG data analytics platform (EMR)
• Data Analyst team – Providing services around Data Extraction, Data Wrangling and Data Profiling

The role will report into the head of GTC EUGG IT.

Key accountabilities

• Lead the Chennai strategy and service being the single point of contact for all of Data and Analytics in Chennai and Guadalajara. Accountability will include: Development, Service, Training and Recruitment.
• Be an active member of the BI Leadership team, supporting the development of overall BI strategy and capability build & maintenance for SEU IT
• Be an active member of the GTC SEU IT Leadership team, supporting the development of Chennai IT Strategy and capability build and maintenance.
• Line Manager of the Delivery Leads and accountable for ensuring team capacity, capability, operating model and service is line with strategic Portfolio demand.
• Work in Partnership with End to End Capability Service Managers (E2ECSM) to build & deliver Application Lifecycle plans and interventions that align to BI roadmaps, business priorities and application plans.
• Work in Partnership with Project Managers in supporting Application Development activities
• Build and maintain partnership with internal and external delivery partners to find opportunities and support models for capability augmentation (capacity and capability).
• Ensure that applications are monitored and consistently delivered to agreed SLAs (e.g. availability, performance metrics, disaster recovery).
• Proactively identify and report improvements to services within the business capability application portfolio.
• Support the commissioning of new BI applications, working with architecture, BI Engineering, E2ECSMs and Service Introduction teams

Education, Experience, Competencies

• 10+ years of Technical Experience of BI Platforms system administration and delivery ideally using OBIEE, Microstrategy, Spotfire, QuickSight and D3.js.
• 5+ years of Management experience in managing and lead BI Engineering teams
• Experience of running BI solutions on the AWS cloud infrastructure would be a distinct advantage
• Experience of working with R&D, Finance, HR, Compliance, Medical data
• Engineering Degree
• MBA Degree is preferable
• Experience of working in a multi partner scenario and a cross- culture environment.
• Experience of running Agile projects / methodologies such as Scrum or KanBan
• Should have experience in a validated environment and aware of GxP & SOX requirements.
• Experience of issue management, problem analysis, troubleshooting, testing and end-user support
• Evidence of crafting innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation
• Superb communication and social skills.
• A good team leader with demonstrable experience in partner management.
• Ability to guide and mentor team members.
• Proactive approach to problem solving.
• Able to grasp and understand new technological trends / concepts
• Experience working in a globally distributed team
• Understanding of business processes in the life sciences / pharmaceutical domain preferred.

• Reporting Technology: OBIEE, Microstrategy.
• UX design skills
• Agile tech: Jira
• Service reporting tools ( Service NOW, BMC Remedy, etc.,)
• Amazon Web Services (AWS):- AWS S3 for database staging area, Amazon Aurora and Redshift on RDS for hosting, AWS EMR for big data analytics.
• Oracle Essbase
• ETL Tech: Talend deployed on AWS EC2 and AWS elastic beanstalk
• PMP / PRINCE2 certified.
• ITIL Certified
• Informatica , Power centre , MDM
• Oracle/MS SQL/PL SQL
• Business Objects, Spotfire, QuickSight and D3.js experience
