Micron’s Taiwan sites include sales and technical support in Taipei along with state-of-the-art fabrication facilities in Taichung and Taoyuan that together comprise the company’s DRAM Center of Perfection. The Center’s goal is to achieve the most efficient and effective technology transfer and manufacturing ramp by combining front- and back-end manufacturing, product engineering and technology development roles.


DRAM Engineering Group (DEG) Product Engineering (PE) Planning Manager

As a DRAM Engineering Group (DEG) Product Engineering (PE) Planning Manager, you will be responsible for managing a local team of PE Planners (location: Taichung/Taiwan). You will be expected to direct the Taiwan PE Planning team on the coordination of product flows for NPI customer samples and NPI/HVM Engineering builds throughout Micron’s global factory network. In this role, you will collaborate with the Embedded (EBU) and Compute/Networking (CNBU) Business Units, Quality Assurance (QA), NPI Marketing, Backend Central Planning and Site Manufacturing Planning (ASM/TEST/MOD/FG) groups on cross-functional teams. You will also supervise the TW PE Planning team on their work with the Manufacturing and Planning teams to provide consultation on product history, containment and product shipment concerns. Your team must load/collect all internal engineering demand into the NPI Demand Tool and set priorities. Main responsibility will be in the support of Product Engineering experimental/logistic needs. In addition, this role must coordinate with other DEG PE Planning Teams worldwide (Japan/Boise/Virginia) to ensure all groups are following the same business processes and providing the same level of service.


Responsibilities and Tasks



Tactical execution of supply during the NPI Phase


  • Lead a "Promises at Risk" meeting to discuss sample status with Manufacturing/Supply Chain/NPI teams

  • Participate in a Samples Execution Meeting to discuss sample status and priority requests with Manufacturing

  • Facilitate data collection for Engineering builds by working with Test Engineering, Design For Test (DFT) Team, and the Product Leads

  • Work with Test Attribute Group (TAG) to understand how to run material with special requirements (ex: fuse sorts, custom screens, smart sampling)

  • Select and tactically build material for samples and internal engineering builds

  • Facilitate New Product Kickoff Meeting and work to ensure groups are ready to tactically run new Design Ids (Master Data, Manufacturing, etc.)


Engineering builds during the High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) Phase


  • Facilitate exception builds required for data when product is in HVM phase (ex: new process checkouts, data to determine disposition of excursions, extended module testing)


Manage data for NPI Demand Tool


  • Load/collect all Internal Engineering requirements into NPI Demand Tool

  • Use a variety of inputs (Product Readiness, Supply Availability, Capacity, Site Readiness, etc.) to propose initial commitments for all demand

  • Manage commitments from the time they are set to the time product is available for Marketing and/or completed for Engineering

  • Participate in a cross-functional group developing and improving the NPI Process


Advising on/investigating deviated product


  • Act as subject matter expert for questions regarding Customer Containment Restrictions (CCRs) and enter all CCR requests originating from Product Engineering

  • Facilitate review and approval/rejection of Product Waiver Requests

  • Help BU/Engineering/QA understand extent of impact for deviated shipments

  • Work with Supply Chain and BU to disposition events strategically

  • Work with Containment and Disposition (CND) team to facilitate rescreen activities


Qualification activities


  • Tactically build product required for qualification

  • Coordinate creation of qualification plan

  • Sample material for qual per qualification plan
