Job Description

The DevOps Hub Americas is an internal department which specializes in designing, developing, testing, and operating custom software for all brands and services of BMW Group (BMW, BMWi, BMW Motorrad, MINI, Rolls-Royce, etc.) for both local and global markets. Custom software that is developed by this department consists of, but is not limited to, mobile and web solutions, cloud based infrastructure, data visualizations, and containerized applications and micro-services. Within the DevOPs Hub Americas department is the Test Automation team which comprises of test managers and test engineers and test analysts, which are supported by an Agile Master and steered by a Team Lead. The Test Automation Intern will support the team by translating user requirements into codable tests, coding the tests, running and reporting on the results of said tests, and then taking the next step in configuring the tests within the Test Automation team’s test automation suite to fully automate the test scripts and unit tests. As an intern/co-op within the Spider team it will be expected to interface with the other DevOps teams within the department and to present work to fellow team-members as well as. management. For each of these reasons good communication skills is a must. All Test Automation interns must be comfortable working with object-oriented languages.  All interns/co-ops are fully integrated within the team and are expected to contribute collaboratively working on deliverables for the DevOpsHub Americas products; however they will also be mentored by an internal team member. While test automation is the primary focus, computer science interns/co-ops will also have the opportunity to look for areas of opportunity to make improvements by way of new technical solutions, and then propose, design, build, and implement those solutions.

Assignment Duties

  • Develop automated test scripts for critical custom developed products
  • Understanding of core business processes
  • Understanding and development of automation tools and programming languages
  • Understanding and use of application development tools and programming languages
  • Report results of test script runs to Test Management repository
  • Review design documentation sufficient enough to understand testing requirements

Assignment Projects

  • Testing of Charge Forward and/or Release Notes Builder customer apps
  • Developing testing framework tools

 

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, ME, EE, data analytics, or similar
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with one or more of the following object oriented programming languages: Javascript (preferred), C#, Python, Swift
  • Experience with Git based source code version control
  • Proven ability to work on team-based IT projects
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
  • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours / week)
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term
