The Newton Investment Management Group' (Newton) is used to collectively describe a group of affiliated companies that provide investment advisory services under the brand name ‘Newton' or ‘Newton Investment Management'. Investment advisory services are provided in the United Kingdom by Newton Investment Management Ltd (NIM) and in the United States by Newton Investment Management North America LLC (NIMNA). Both firms are indirect subsidiaries of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (“BNY Mellon”). Newton currently has office locations in London, Boston, New York and San Francisco. This role will be employed by NIMNA, within its commercial department, and will be based in Boston, at the headquarters for NIMNA. The commercial department at NIMNA focuses on two core functions. 1) Institutional consultant relations, direct sales and client services – this area includes personnel who work with institutional consultants, asset owners and prospects to understand their investment needs and provide solutions to meet their investment goals. 2) intermediary team, who work with wirehouses, registered investment advisers, and wealth offices to understand their investment needs and deliver investment solutions. This role will be part of the Newton RFP team – the RFP team has members based in Boston, New York and London (United Kingdom). The team works closely together to service the commercial needs of NIMNA as well as NIM. Newton employees are bright, inquisitive, thoughtful and collaborative. This role consists of (1) updating and maintaining a high quality of data in institutional consultant databases – this includes compiling and sourcing of information, and (2) providing data for RFP documents. The role involves working in a strong global team environment, working closely with RFP writers, the UK-based data team, India-based support team, and the sales and consultant relations teams in responding to data queries. There are several aspects to this role: Liaising with colleagues in the US, the UK and India to understand data requirements in the commercial area, to maintain data feeds and assimilate data; to this end, the role involves proactively seeking new sources of (accurate) data Accumulating and maintaining a data library for NIMNA data Assisting with completion of data for tender (RFP) responses with tight deadlines; this involves working closely with Newton’s RFP writers in a strong team environment Raising Newton’s profile in consultant channels by ensuring that our business and product entries on consultant databases are accurately completed and are regularly updated in a timely manner Working with various teams throughout Newton, and with third parties such as eVestment, to automate and process data in the most efficient way A suitable candidate would be a team player, have proven numerical ability, and should be able to review existing data processes to create more efficient, automated methods. The candidate must have excellent eye for detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines. The person will be part of the global RFP team and is expected to work in close conjunction with the UK-based data team and India-based support team, with the aim of achieving synergies and consistency across processes. Qualifications Some investment management experience (1-3 years) is desirable. Advanced Excel skills are a must, as is a strong grasp of financial/quantitative concepts.
