The Data Engineer role is a unique position that combines project work in a production environment as well as implementing and driving automation and innovation via new approaches.
There is regular involvement with multiple teams at SDL  including (pre)-sales and marketing, research and development, and system administration.
This position reports to the Manager of MT Customization Services

 

 

The ideal candidate will be able to apply development techniques, natural language processing and knowledge of relevant natural languages to help deliver leading edge features and functionality for our international customers.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

- Develop customized machine translation systems

- Research, analyse and evaluate data

- Aggregate and clean data

- Identify challenges and implement solutions to improve data and translation quality

- Adopt and integrate internal technologies and drive constant improvement and extension of these technologies

- Implement automation scripts and provide input towards innovating new approaches and features within our internal tools and automation infrastructure

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

- Have a degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or linguistics.

- Experience with data processing and scripting

- Be able to propose out-of-the-box strategies based on insights about data.

- Proficient in a scripting language such as Python, Perl and bash scripting.

- Strong command line administration skills in a Unix/Linux environment

- Knows multiple languages.

- Project management or excellent time management and organizational skills

- Preferred: Knowledge and experience in statistical machine translation, natural language processing, speech recognition and/or computational linguistics
