The Cloud Services team is responsible for delivery of SaaS software and hosted solutions to SDL’s email and campaign customers. The team delivers production services being responsible for day to day solution reliability and support.

The Data Engineering role is a key part of the team delivering SDL Campaigns services with particular responsibility for campaign database services such as management, maintenance and support of hosted database solutions. The role is essential in ensuring SDL’s customers get service value out of SDLs software. It also includes some technical solution support to the regions technical account team and Professional Services consultants and working with internal operational teams to address issues.

• Technical and business knowledge of the Customer solutions, systems and databases
• Ensure hosted solutions are as stable and as available as possible
• Deliver on-going services for hosted solution customers and SaaS solutions
• Act as 3rd line support for all hosted database and campaign solutions
• Provide technical consultancy for areas of subject matter expertise in regard to hosted solutions with particular emphasis on email solutions
• Assist sales in hosted solution definition and scoping prior to sale
• Provide technical consultancy for areas of subject matter expertise in regard to hosted solutions

Key Responsibilities
The Production Services Engineer – Campaigns Database will have the following key responsibilities:

• Database management and maintenance for hosted solutions and process monitoring
• Ensure smooth running and operation of customer Campaign database solutions
• Troubleshooting data loads when escalated from Bangalore load monitoring team
• Applying scripts (with scripting knowledge)
• Managing data load queries, fixing load problems
• Process Monitoring
• Liaison with SDL’s primary support structures
• Manage the setup and creation of hosted solutions
• Manage 3rd line support incidents for hosted solutions
• Develop and document replicable processes to aid efficiency in all areas
• Act as an “internal customer” for the SDL Development team

Technical Skills

Essential
The position requires a flexible individual with technical and good communications skills to meet the demands of this varied and demanding position:

• Knowledge of databases, campaign management and data analytics and reporting
• Experience in database design and/or data analysis tools
• Experience with day-to-day operation of data loading/ETL automation tools
• Excellent problem solving skills and an eye for detail
• Industry experience with Marketing Database Solutions
• Minimum of 3 years in development using ETL best practices and SQL or equivalent education
• Minimum of 2 years work experience with relational and dimensional databases/data marts
• Experience with Javascript, Powershell, VBScript or other scripting languages
• Ability to estimate tasks and deliver to agreed timescales

• Understanding of the functional / operational components of marketing campaign management
