Purpose of the Job

This is a senior role in Biz Tech APAC customer engagement team. The Data Engineer works alongside with Product Owner and Data Analyst in the team to support developing data platform, data warehouse and data cubes for analytics purpose. Additionally, he/she develops different technical tools/services to enable data ingestion from different data sources. ​

By collaboration with vendor teams, this person plays crucial role in constructing H&M group CRM/CDP platforms.

A Data Engineer believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust. Working with a focus on value creation, growth and serving customers with full ownership and accountability. Delivering exceptional customer and business results​.

Responsibilities

• Identify and understand the data sources that are relevant for analysis.
• Design, architecture review and deployment of Big data and data warehouse solutions.
• Design, develop and build real-time data pipelines from a variety of sources (streaming data, APIs, data warehouse, messages etc.)​.
• Consolidate the requirements and using data engineering skills to design a robust DataMart.
• Design and build solutions to track data quality, stabilize data pipeline, etc. to ensure reliable operations​.
• Leverage the understanding of software architecture and software design patterns to write scalable, maintainable, well-designed, and future-proof software​.
• Actively apply best practices within CI/CD​.
• Ensure best practices are followed across architecture, codebase and configuration​.
• Mentor and coach team members, working closely with Product Owners to build centralized data platform.
• Eliminate waste​.
• Deliver on time.

• Ability to establish with clear goals and responsibilities to achieve a high level of performance. 
• Ability to evaluate different options proactively and ability to solve problems in an innovative way. Develop new solutions or combine existing methods to create new approaches. ​
• Comfortable in working with external product teams to establish the optimal data integration patterns/solutions​.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional and international environment, to lead by influence and earn trust at all levels.
• History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done.

Requirement

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related fields (Information Engineering, Information Management, Data engineering, Applied Mathematics).
• Strong development skills in languages such as Java, SQL, Python or Go.
• 7+ years of experience in
• working with Big Data Solutions development, familiar with data pipelines for batch and streaming applications.
• using ETL tools (Spark), familiar with data orchestration among various data sources, data parallel processing, data aggregation and data warehouse and data mart realizations.
• developing with relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL) with data modeling capabilities.
• designing data monitoring dashboards using Power BI or any others visualization tools.
• Must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese and available to work in China.

This is a fulltime position with placement in Hong Kong. You will report to Head of Domain at Business Tech.
