Aligned within Global Feasibility and Site Intelligence function, the Data Scientist will play a meaningful role in supporting data driven strategic and operational feasibility, site identification, and recruitment and retention modelling for early to late stage medicines development across Oncology and BioPharmaceuticals R&D, beginning at the concept stage through to execution, including ongoing trials.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts hands-on data mining/machine learning projects based on specific datasets and customer problems
- Build algorithms to extract information from large data sets and seeks feedback from customers to adapt approaches to new insights based on data findings
- Design, develop and implement analytical solutions to optimize site selection for clinical trial conduct
- Use historical site intelligence to identify drivers to predict performance, TA specific, based on site execution data
- Continuous data analysis post study completion, real-time evaluation of delivery, transfer successes to future strategy
- Responsible for developing and piloting analytical tools, algorithms and methods
- Develops, test, implement and refine advanced analytics methods across available clinical study and real-world data to improve our ability to identify, select and work with the right sites for a specific protocol, program, indication
- Continuous evolution of internal site intelligence platform, optimization and enrolment modelling tools, in collaboration with DS&AI. Develop/apply algorithms to visualize data outputs
- Evaluating new data sources and support integration with existing data to improve capability
- Site Selection metrics reporting including benchmarking data analysis, ad-hoc requests
- Clearly and objectively communicate results, as well as their associated uncertainties and limitations
- Constructively collaborate with a diverse set of users (global, regional and local roles, TA leads) and partners, enabling effective consensus, conflict resolution and alignment to project goals
- Establish a controlled learning environment where model iteration and continual improvement is normal practice
- Define and establish a decision framework that facilitates clear decision making, taking into account all meaningful data, information and expert knowledge
Qualifications
- MSc or PhD statistics, mathematics, informatics, computer science, the physical sciences or related subject
- Experience in data mining; machine learning; statistics and visualization
- Computing skills: scientific computing and scripting (R, Python, , Jupyter, Hadoop, AWS), software development, database design and coding
- Understanding of software development practices including version control and testing
- Understanding of algorithm design, development, optimization, scaling and application
- Knowledge of Agile or Kanban methodology
- Ability to work independently, and as a team member in a matrix environment
- Customer focus - dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
- Integrity and trust -- unwavering dedication to "doing the right thing"
- Experience from Drug Development and Feasibility in the pharmaceutical industry
- Ability to multitask under tight timelines, while providing attention to detail and high quality work.
- Strong presentation skills, effective oral and written communication
