The Data Analytics for Software and Hardware (DASH) team provides various data insights to the Microsoft Devices organization and its partners. We have wide range of target audiences inside and outside of the organization. Our problem space ranges from traditional software and hardware telemetry analysis, sentiment analysis, user behavior analysis, churn and retention analysis, return analysis, manufacturing analysis, fraud detection … etc. We collaborate with Windows feature team, fundamentals team, core data science team, Microsoft Store, CSS, factory and many more. The team is an open canvas to make impacts to one of the most innovative corners in Microsoft. This role will be working with our various partners to define metrics, implement the appropriate visualizations and help Devices team make key data driven decisions. This role will also work with our data scientist on different aspects of various projets.
Responsibilities
- Champion best engineering practices to produce highest possible quality deliverables
- Manipulate, analyze, tell a story, and have an opinion on complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources using a variety of tools and data analysis techniques
- Drive and maintain E2E data project including requirement gathering, data pipeline, data visualization, insight analysis, and providing value and support to stakeholders
- Use and promote data-exploration techniques to discover new or previously unasked questions
- Help and educate stake holders to translate open problem into impactful metrics and visualizations
- Define/Prototype/Implement metrics and methodology that accurately quantify the value of improvements
- Constantly seek methods to maintain and improve data quality
- Explore, learn and share new innovative methods, techniques, practices, and tools for everything we do
Qualifications
- 2+ years software engineering and/or data analysis experience with a proven track record on shipping high-quality products/features
- Strong in querying and analyzing data using Scope, PowerBI, SQL, Kusto/Splunk, MDX, and C# like languages.
- Experience with the following is a plus: Splunk, Azure Kusto, Azure Machine Learning Studio and TLC, Jupyter
- Strong in dealing with ambiguity and driving team wide and cross team initiatives
- Strong programming, debugging, and analytical skills
- A self-starter with a strong passion about the power of data and analysis
- Strong will to learn and adopt new technique, technology, and methodology
- Excellent in presenting data models and analysis to a range of audiences in a concise and effective manner
- Understand the impact and importance of HW, user experience, and has a decent foundation in Windows telemetry preferred.
- A BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operation Research or equivalent
