CO&I is responsible for delivering Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that powers the world’s largest online services.

Specific Job Task - Datacenter Engineering Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) Discipline Manager will lead Microsoft’s Engineering & Design MEP team, providing people management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter designs & delivery.

Responsibilities:

The Datacenter Engineering MEP Discipline Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership of the Mechanical & Electrical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), supporting career and technical growth, technical direction, and the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs. This role will require collaboration with Global Technical Excellence team, Global Strategy teams and DCE Operations Team to develop the datacenter designs from basis of design (BOD) to issue for constructions (IFC) and through the Construction Administration phase of datacenter until handover for new DC project build-outs. To be successful in this role the candidate will collaborate with internal & external customers, lead the direction of the MEP technical delivery & oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules and budgets of the projects. 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Professional Engineer in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
  • Ability to lead team of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mission critical projects (Datacenters, Laboratories and/or Micro-Electronics projects or similar)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as project or team manager
  • Demonstrated ability to write, speak, and present information effectively and persuasively
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead and be proactive
  • Excellent problem-solving, judgment, team building, and decision-making skills
  • Experience using MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Excel including effective reporting/presentations of project information

  • Microsoft Cloud Screen Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Screen background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter while in this role.
