Job Description
Eaton’s Commercial & Residential Distribution Solutions Division is currently seeking Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Lincoln, IL facility. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: This position primary responsibility is to drive design projects that result in product and productivity cost improvements by utilizing VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) methodologies, which focus on improving both existing product lines and new designs as a control for escalating material and labor costs, or improving product margins, while maintaining product integrity. Product focus is on the development of electrical distribution devices and associated electro-mechanical components. This role requires strong ideation skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects across multinational sites. Experience with injection molding, metal stamping, sheet metal, tooling and welding processes is preferred. The position will require facilitation of Value Analysis events to generate a pipeline of ideas and subsequent execution. The incumbent must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others in a high paced environment. In this function you will: Lead design engineering efforts on critical cost-out projects, including idea development, prototyping, project execution, and plant/business system implementation. Create unique and proprietary product designs through analysis, drawings, and 3D modeling. Provide design engineering support for productivity improvement projects through effective participation on cross-functional VA/VE teams. Plan and coordinate UL test programs and interpret results to ensure that all the requirements of the products and components being designed are fully investigated. Support plant and product management cost out activities. Own overall project management for VA/VE projects through Pro-Launch Gate 5. Coordinate with operations at manufacturing facilities to implement VA/VE projects. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution to be completed no later than May 2023 One (1) year of professional experience including internships/co-ops Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Lincoln, IL Preferred qualifications: Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution AutoCAD/Inventor Experience Position Criteria: Detail-oriented High level of integrity Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to handle multiple priorities against multiple deadlines Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Why work at Eaton?
