The Fuel & Motion Control Systems Division of Eaton’s Aerospace Group has an opening for a Design Engineer. The position is based at our Jackson, MS facility. Relocation within the United States is provided for this opportunity. Position Overview: The Design Engineer will be responsible for part design and detail drawings of aerospace fluid power components. Products include electric motor pumps, engine driven pumps, hydraulic motors, hydraulic heat exchangers, and hydraulic reservoirs. This position supports engineering development projects, new business proposal activities, and sustaining engineering activities. The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets. In this function you will: Create robust 3D models of complex machined components with input from project/senior engineers utilizing PTC Creo Parametric 7.0 or higher. Should be familiar with advanced modeling tools such as swept blends, section sweeps, etc. Apply mechanical design principles to create models that achieve goals of functionality, manufacturability, weight, and cost. Create detail drawings of complex parts, subassemblies, assemblies, etc. utilizing Creo 7.0 or higher while maintaining conformance to ASME Y14 standards. Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to detail drawings. Should be familiar with GD&T fundamentals and tolerance stack creation. Ability to import and export 3D models that are not native to Creo into existing designs as well as provide customers with Eaton’s 3D models that are compatible with other CAD software systems such as Catia, Solidworks, NX, etc. Utilize Eaton’s standard drawing/modeling templates when creating new drawings or models. Must have ability to create and maintain drawing formats, templates, and symbols. Strong understanding of Engineering Change Order (CO) process and the ability to completely and accurately document CO changes utilizing Engineering Change Notice (ECN) documentation. Effectively utilize Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management system (PLM) to maintain configuration control of all 3D models and drawings. Should be able to create CO’s and CR’s (Engineering Change Requests) utilizing Eaton’s PLM system. Capable of accurately completing Bill-of-Materials within PLM to convey product requirements to organization. Collaborate with peers and managers to improve department efficiency and reduce the cost of component development and detailing of components. Create CAD models using Model Based Definition techniques. Qualifications Required (Basic) Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution OR currently enrolled with a graduation date no later than May 2023. Experience with 3D modelling software (preferably Creo) utilizing advanced geometry creation methods. Experience in the design of mechanical components. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future. Preferred Qualifications Co-op or engineering intern experience is preferred. Advanced experience with 3D modelling software (preferably Creo) utilizing advanced geometry creation methods. Basic understanding of PLM systems Basic understanding of Model Based Definition (MBD) Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Basic understanding of standard aerospace manufacturing processes and ability to design for manufacturability. Understanding of ASME Y14 standards.
