Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Americas Manufacturing Group is currently seeking a Design Quality Manager to join our team. This position can be based out of any Eaton US facility or remote US home office. Position Overview: Quality leader to drive organizational capability and deployment of Design Quality and Process Continuous Improvement through Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) / DMAIC Six Sigma / Robust Product Engineering deployment for Electrical Sector Americas: Thinks and Acts Strategically - Develops and implements a strategy to deploy an effective Six Sigma and New Product Development program to achieve a robust continuous improvement and problem solving process to drive results. Enables Digital Mindset – Develops and redefines the DfSS and DMAIC program for ES Americas to enable knowledge growth and application of tool consistent with the project portfolio of the digital future and Intelligent Power Management Systems. Develops and deploys augmented NPI process to incorporate Scalable Agile Framework (SAFe). BOC - Provides direct support for the DFSS / Reliability Engineering program within the organization by leading and mentoring Black / Green Belts in the functions of engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to achieve desired business results through strategic projects, including PROLaunch. BOC - Mentors and trains others, especially champions, supervisors, managers and engineers, on the use of DFSS, reliability engineering, EQS, Six Sigma, and ELSS tools, including problem solving methods and statistical analysis. BOC - Supports the OCA process to ensure the development and readiness of future leadership and engineers with a DFSS mindset and capabilities. Gets Results - Accountable for delivering functional performance results at the organization level of measurement to improve global competitiveness and customer satisfaction through related PROLaunch/DFSS strategies and projects. Thinks and Acts Strategically - Represents organization with Eaton corporate DfSS Council and directly support the development and deployment of process tools for Six Sigma throughout the scope of ES Americas organization. Gets Results - Provide direct support and engagement with product line teams regarding complex root cause analysis to drive performance improvement including as necessary onsite activities. Essential Functions: Champions the DFSS and DMAIC Six Sigma Program including Robust Products and Processes within the organization and ensures alignment with Eaton corporate and sector initiatives and processes. This includes overseeing PROLaunch/DFSS projects as well as Black / Green Belt resource deployment across divisions and sites within the organization. Develop SAFe framework integration and build organizational capability to mentor others and enable sustainable execution to support our dynamic evolution of the design portfolio beyond traditional electrical/ mechanical and future ready with foundation in systems engineering dependencies. Builds and develops functional competence in DFSS for reliability engineering and advanced problem solving techniques and analytical tools for Black / Green Belts within the organization. Coaches and mentors DFSS and Six Sigma Black / Green Belt projects to ensure achievement of established goals and sustainable results. Plays an active role in PROLaunch major projects on ES Americas big bet projects to ensure flawless product and/or process launch risk mitigation with respect to design and quality. Works directly with Divisional Design Engineering Directors and Division Quality Directors to ensures process execution is aligned with internal and external voice of customer VOC through the completion of PROLaunch deliverables using Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology including Product Design ScoreCards (PDSC), Design Validation, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Establishes a risk management process to identify, prioritize, and cultivate future DFSS and DMAIC Six Sigma projects at the regional, divisional, and design center levels which align with the PROLaunch portfolio and CONC / Cost Out profit plans. Establishes and facilitates multi-year strategy to develop cadre of trainers across the organization, recognized as subject matter experts (SMEs) within Eaton and ensures a healthy level of talent bench strength to meet the scale and complexity of the business needs and meeting. Develops roadmap of maturity for DfSS competency and practice to advance ES Americas to Performing or beyond as per Eaton Business Systems Assessment Provides a catalyst for change/ improvement within the business. Uses knowledge of change management to facilitate and to sustain change within project teams, processes, procedures, and policies for the Americas. Leads cost reduction / black belt projects in support of the organization’s cost reduction goals. Provides consulting and rapid response as required by customer organizations within and outside Electrical Americas. Develops business acumen. Participates in the Eaton Business System and understands the linkages between Strategic planning, profit planning, Organizational capability, and Performance assessment. Directly supports and conducts regional, divisional and site training strategies and plans to support and drive improvement processes and tools (topics to include DFSS, reliability engineering, statistical analysis & problem solving methods, EQS & ELS toolsets). Develops training modules as required to facilitate organizational development. Works with EQI to update and modify curriculum. Liaisons with Eaton Resource Groups (ERGs) to incorporate lessons learned from other organizations. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited education institution Minimum ten (10) years of experience in operations, engineering, or quality Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future No relocation is offered for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Educational Degree and BS and/or MS degree in Engineering, Statistics, or related field is desirable Master Black Belt or equivalent in DFSS, DMAIC or related areas Experience in change management Experience in project management (PMI certification/ PMP preferred) 5 years in a functional or technical leadership role ASQ certification as CQM/OpEx Demonstrated competence in the complete range of Six Sigma tools and process improvement techniques DFSS, DMAIC, Lean, EQS Demonstrated EBS competence. EBE assessor certification preferred Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $130,400-179,300. Eligible for a performance-based incentive bonus with a target at 21% of base.
