Job Description
OBJECTIVE
Design and development of range of products within “look and feel of the C&A brand"
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Process:
1.Creating / visualizing idea by hand or CAD
2.Keep up to date with emerging fashion trends and ideas relating to colour fabric and silhouette
3.Fulfill line plan obligations/OTB and other on seasonal basis
4.Design product assortment based on relevant trend / best sellers and new opportunities
identified by business objective
5.Drive trend awareness and innovation through product design and development relevant to
product category
6.Clear and strong presentation and communication of ideas
Brand Building:
1.Follow seasonal story and develop new product within the seasonal creative brief
2.Demonstrate understanding and consistent execution of look and feel of specified brand
Product Conception:
1.Demonstrate clear and comprehensive design and catwalk research of product area
2.Identify and translate appropriate trends to commercially relevant product
3.Develop key items , trend must haves and essential items based on knowledge of best and
worst sellers
4.Clear understanding of use of equipment in stores and its impact on the design process
5.Clear understanding of line plan architecture and financial KPIs to be achieved
6.Clear understanding of design critical path in the E2E calendar
7.Adherence to E2E deadlines
8.Create clear concise product specifications (tech packs) which communicate style, fabric, trim,
color and construction (critical in the successful interpretation of a concept sample)
9.Selection of fabric and trim against styling concept
10.Close liaison with sourcing / suppliers to chase concept samples
11.Approval of handlooms, strike-offs, lab dips and trims
12.Provide input with sketches, fabric/yarn quality, samples and artwork/CAD, to support
HOB/DOB at the First Edit Workshop
Cross Functional Collaboration:
1.Close liaison with merchant teams to ensure designs are aligned with financial KPIs
2.Close working relationship with trend team to keep abreast of global trends
3.Strong collaborative and working partnerships with other designers within team to ensure
collaboration and universal understanding of collection and increased combinability
4.Work with pattern cutters where applicable
5.Work with garment technical to understand design from a technical perspective and perfect
garment specifications (tech packs) and measurements / blocks
6.Adhere to E2E deadlines
7.Communicate issues to design manager in timely manner
8.Bring design solutions to the team
9.Work with sourcing partners to communicate aesthetic requirements of product to be
developed
10.Work closely with Fabric R&D in defining seasonal fabric selections for core and fashion
styles
11.Participate and contribute to the overseas Collaborative Development Trip, in cooperation with
the PM and Sourcing partners
Co-Creation Suppliers:
1.Brief suppliers on creative direction for the assigned business unit
2.Interact on a continual basis to lead the design and development process
3.Teach and mentor the suppliers to better understand the C&A customer, design vision and the “
look and feel” of assigned business unit

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General:
1.Working knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and current finishing techniques and
processes

4.Strong knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, colour use, sewing techniques , graphics and trim
5.Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
6.Strong critical thinking and exercise swift problem solving skills

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1.College degree in Fashion Design
2.3 to 5 years of experience in retail or manufacturing design studio environment
3.Proven technical knowledge of garment construction
