Development Advising Officer (UG)

General Description

Student Development Advising (SDA) system is composed of Development Advisors of XJTLU, offering non-academic support to undergraduate students. SDA is one of the significant supporting system of Five-Star Education Model. The vision of Student Development Advising System is to offer a platform for mutual communication between XJTLU and students; to integrate relevant resources to guide and support students efficiently; to construct class mode, and take the unique education model of XJTLU in practice; to create a healthy and vigorous campus to cater for students.

Main Responsibility and Accountability

To act as Student Development Advisor, tutoring about 200~300 students; To liaise with students and parents by following university communication protocol and principle; To accomplish tasks allocated by the Telescope System or team leader of SDAC; To maintain the class operation and guide class activities to support student development; To transfer information between other departments and internal teams; To analyze student’s data to early detect concerning students; To maintain Telescope System data and make effort to improve the system continuously; To deal with urgent cases and follow up;

Position Qualification Requirement

Skills and Knowledge

Excellent communication, coordination and presentation skills; With solid cross-cultural background, excellent written and spoken skills in both English and Chinese languages; Highly proficient IT skills: MS Office (Word, Excel and Access), Outlook, worldwide web, databases, spreadsheets and PowerPoint; Ability to work on a variety of tasks at the same time, and to organize and prioritize them, including coping with unpredictable volumes of work and busy periods; Dependability, reliability and ability to produce work of high quality. With enthusiasm and good familiarly with the work of student administrative affairs; With solid knowledge of and good familiarity with XJTLU culture and education philosophies; Highly motivated and professionally committed, and willing to work on weekends and even on holidays, where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

Major in Psychology, Education, Law, English related would be preferred; Ideally with a master’s degree.
