The Diagnostic Liaison Specialist (DLS) is a field based position that ensures timely, high quality in-market testing solutions to enable optimal treatment throughout the patient journey for several oncology areas.

An important element of this role is therefore to work collaboratively with the internal cross functional field teams and execute on diagnostic tactical plans, developing tailored testing solutions as needed.

The DLS will leverage its knowledge of the oncology biomarkers landscape engaging externally with geneticists, pathologists and other relevant stakeholders in the oncology patient’s diagnostic journey, to identify their needs and develop activities to ensure wide access to high quality biomarker testing.

 

Accountabilities

  • Identify stakeholder needs and develop relationships with, scientific experts: Laboratory decision makers, Oncologists, Pulmonologists, Geneticists, Pathologists and Molecular Pathologists. Raise awareness regarding the need for testing of biomarkers relevant to AZ Onco brands.   
  • Identify barriers to testing through partnerships with diagnostic companies, lab networks, and Health Care Professionals (HCPs). Support strategy roll out and educate on appropriate testing
  • Influence and advice regarding appropriate use and technology to perform testing
  • Educate on the need for diagnostic quality assurance (QA) programmes and encourage the implementation of diagnostic quality assurance programmes, and share diagnostic quality data.
  • Share appropriate, approved, educational information on diagnostics to the heads of clinical Laboratories and their staff
  • Alert manufacturers to follow up regarding test-specific questions
  • Understand the current and emerging diagnostic testing environment
  • Interact with MSLs / Brand / Dx Manager to communicate stakeholder needs and insights
  • Adhere to the AZ Code of Conduct, the market Policy Handbook, Standards, and SOPs as well as comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements for the role

 

Education Essential

  • Master Degree in science field
  • English advanced

 

Education Desirable

  • 3+ years of experience in molecular diagnostic market and clinical testing market (field position)
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmaceutical sales and marketing
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulatory environment relevant to diagnostic sales and marketing
  • Experience of broad range of oncology diagnostic, pathology, and therapeutic marketing
  • PHD in science field

Experience

  • Proven experience with a broad base of external stakeholders (eg. geneticists/pathologists) including prescribers, payers, providers and track record of effective management of decision-making bodies and governance
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, judgment and influencing skills, i.e., influencing national internal teams and stakeholders to ensure strong commercial focus with excellent execution
  • Proven track record of developing compelling business cases
  • Strong leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short and long term needs, constructively resolve issues
  • 3+ years of experience in molecular diagnostic market and clinical testing market (field position) ( Desirable )
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmaceutical sales and marketing ( Desirable )
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulatory environment relevant to diagnostic sales and marketing ( Desirable )
  • Experience of broad range of oncology diagnostic, pathology, and therapeutic marketing ( Desirable )
