AstraZeneca has one of the biopharmaceutical industry’s most exciting and rapidly growing Oncology portfolios, spanning both small molecule and biologics research and development. We are developing a comprehensive Oncology portfolio with an emphasis in 4 key platforms: DNA damage repair, Immunotherapy, Tumour Drivers & Resistance and Antibody Drug Conjugates, in 4 core disease areas: Breast, Ovarian, Lung and Haematology.

Several of these drug candidates are targeted therapies that provide benefit to patients with a particular biomarker or genetic mutation, creating the need for concurrent development of companion diagnostics in order to identify patients in a timely manner that can benefit from these therapies.

What you will do

As the Diagnostic Manager - Oncology, you will be a key player in building a “best-in-class” Oncology Diagnostic capability at AstraZeneca in 3 Countries – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being directly responsible for Hospitals and Laboratories in the Baltic region and support these in changing the Diagnostic landscape.
  • Using your current diagnostics, clinical and/or pharmaceutical testing experience to make an impact identifying appropriate patients for novel first-in-class oncology medicines.
  • Ensuring timely, high-quality in-market companion diagnostics / testing solutions to enable optimal treatment throughout the patient journey.
  • Working in full coordination with the Commercial Team, Medical Advisers and Market access colleagues to execute on tactical plans with a good understanding of clinical operational issues on the testing pathway and developing tailored appropriate testing solutions as needed.

Your role in helping us achieve our leadership ambition will be to:

  • Identify and develop mutual relationships with, scientific authorities: Laboratory decision makers, Pathologists, Molecular Pathologists, Geneticists and Genetic counsellors
  • Champion, creative diagnostics solutions through key account management optimization with the local team
  • Deliver technical/lay data presentations and educate on the requirement of diagnostic quality assurance (QA) programs
  • Identify barriers to testing and develop strategies to support and instruct on appropriate testing
  • Gather Diagnostic intelligence and help built a world class Diagnostic Intelligence Reporting system

Essential for the role

  • Hold an undergraduate degree; preferably an advanced degree in Life Sciences, medical, pharmacy or substantial experience in pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics and clinical testing market; preferably Oncology experience.
  • Be a good communicator with excellent presentation skills,
  • Proven project management experience, and effective cross-functional team leadership.
  • Earlier experience with a broad base of external customers including patients, prescribers, payers, providers and thorough knowledge of diagnostic test regulatory environment highly desirable
  • Ability to travel within the Baltic region when needed
