Job Description

We are currently looking for a Diagnostic Project Manager within Precision Medicine to provide project and portfolio management and to ensure the successful delivery of diagnostic projects from initiation of development, to regulatory approval, across all therapy areas. By championing best practices, we seek to further optimise the delivery of precision medicines here at AstraZeneca.

Core responsibilities include driving continuous improvement processes for providing accurate Precision Medicine portfolio information for decision making; business reporting and capacity and resource management.

You will be accountable for the effective project management of the ctDNA capability build project and will work across several cross-functional diagnostic project teams to ensure AZ leadership with ctDNA / early detection is delivered within the agreed time, budget and quality.

To achieve this, and as a key member of the Precision Medicine Project Management Centre of Excellence, you will ensure consistent ways of working and provide hands on project management. In addition, you will collaborate closely with the Oncology Research and Development Leadership Team (ORD LT) to provide regular updates.

The role relies on close collaboration with Diagnostic Team Leads and the ctDNA / Early Detection Diagnostic Franchise Leads as well as their respective programme teams, in order to implement the diagnostic strategy and to drive the delivery of the strategic capability build.

You will also be responsible for Franchise level project reporting, and will ensure that the project information (achievements, activities, resource and budget) is accurate within AZ’s enterprise planning tool (PLANIT, Planisware).

Education and Experience requirements (minimum)

  • BA/BSc in relevant subject (or equivalent experience)

  • Professional project management qualification (e.g. PMP)

  • Strong experience and understanding of Project Management techniques, tools and principles

  • Extensive experience in scientific project management within a pharmaceutical or clinical background

  • Thorough knowledge of drug and/or diagnostic development processes

  • Experience of working in a global environment with strong demonstrated communication skills to colleagues and key stakeholders

  • A professional, hardworking and proactive approach, with the ability to independently lead a diverse and fast paced workload

Desired Experience

  • High-level understanding and interest in Precision Medicine

  • Expert reputation within the business and industry

  • Experience of using PLANIT (Planisware)
