Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

The Digital Manufacturing Strategy Program Manager is a strategically critical role that leads and manages the strategy and future roadmap for manufacturing 4.0 and its connection to the Hub and Spoke strategy for Apparel Solutions. This strategy focuses on ongoing and future development of digital manufacturing capability in our Apparel operations, while sharing guidance and keeping connection to the journey in other portions of RBIS. The role encompasses the following:

  1. PMO - Manage ongoing progress of the strategy roadmap and key initiatives execution.

  2. Roadmap for future - Oversee the development of the “future smart factory” manufacturing 4.0 vision and the data/technology roadmap in line with related manufacturing automation and hub and spoke strategies. Primary elements are:

    • Data Systems and Connectivity Capabilities

    • Analog to Digital Manufacturing Technologies

    • Manufacturing Process Automation

  3. Technical Expertise - Provide expertise associated with data and other digital technologies. Ensure appropriate use of external and internal expertise and collaboration with partners to drive innovation progress and learning.

Strategy primary success metrics are to support improvement of:

  • Service, Quality, and Cost

  • Employee Intensity

  • Manufacturing Lead time

  • Working Capital

  • Footprint

  • Sustainability

  • Data Transparency

The Digital Manufacturing Strategy Program Manager collaborates with other members of the global manufacturing 4.0/automation team and with other technical, operations, supply chain and business colleagues across all functions.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Proactive and ongoing program management, tracking and supporting communications

  • Collaborating with others for ongoing strategy and roadmap development

  • Ability to develop and lead complex initiatives with limited direct supervision.

  • Ongoing collaboration and communication with colleagues and stakeholders across all functions to understand priority needs and opportunities and to share ideas and proposals

  • Technology scouting and open innovation - engage in processes to proactively identify potential solutions and partners, establish and engage in ongoing practices to build a culture that encourages trying new things and failing fast to drive rapid learning

  • Using effective problem solving and application of lean principles

Qualifications

​​​​​​EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or commensurate training and work experience with demonstrated technical expertise across a range of products, manufacturing and data systems technologies

  • Minimum 5 years related work experience - areas relevant to program management, data systems technologies, operations, process improvements, and problem solving

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with limited supervision

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to effectively work, positively influence and collaborate with others

  • Ability to travel when required to support business

Critical skill and capability areas for the role:

  • Technical expertise - “Big data”, IoT, Manufacturing Execution Systems, manufacturing processes and leading edge technologies

  • Ability to think strategically and translate into roadmap with actionable plans

  • Strong program and project management, using agile and PDCA approach

  • Effective communications, influence leadership and collaboration at all levels

  • Basic business acumen
