Digital Project Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref.: 495703) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Management, information systems, or related fields; with at least 5 years’ experience in software engineering, digital development, image processing, viewer technology and user experience, information management, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training. They should have an excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good time management, organisational and interpersonal skills; the ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences; demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and use research tools and methodologies in digital research (e.g. text mining and analysis, data visualization, neural networks, social network analysis, GIS & mapping, web development, etc.); and a record of successful project management experiences, both independently and in collaboration with diverse teams. Applicants should have a post-graduate qualification, including but not limited to digital humanities, computer science or information systems; and familiarity with (i) data science programmes like Python, as well as JavaScript and WordPress environments; (ii) web development software programmes (i.e. Node and React JS); and (iii) CIDOC CRM, IIF, SPARQL endpoints and triplestores. They should also have experiences in providing high-quality support services to academic or research staff; demonstrated ability to secure grant funding on digital projects; and experiences working with linked open data and cultural heritage ontologies, such as research data management, data research techniques or data science, visualisation, data manipulation and linking, or text mining.
The appointee will coordinate linked-open data management and visualisation projects based on the Museum’s permanent collection; collaborate with curatorial staff on metadata specifications and archiving; develop or subcontract work on information modelling, photogrammetry and geographical information systems; identify relevant methods and tools for further digital research projects; and collaborate with UMAG staff and HKU faculty on internal and external grant applications.
