Job Description

Job Description and Requirements
The financial director is a key management person reporting directly to the Corporate Controller at headquarters (California USA) to collaborate the overall administrative functions such as financial accounting and planning, tax, facilities, human resources, accounting and risk management operations of the company.

This position plays a key role as a key business partner and a liaison between the sales and administrative functions. This role need to ensure that continued growth of business while ensuring compliance with all related direct and indirect tax laws, labor laws and establishing and monitoring controls to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

Planning

1. Assist in formulating the subsidiary / country’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
2. Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
3. Develop financial and tax strategies ensuring compliance with local rules
4. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
5. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts for the country. Work closely with the corporate treasury and tax team to implement any tax strategies to optimize the cash flows.
Operations

1. Participate in key decisions as a member of the country’s executive management team
2. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
3. Collaborate the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments. Oversee the financial operations
4. Implement operational best practices
5. Working closely with the international tax controller, responsible for developing and implementing systems to compile information for various federal, state, and local reports. Ensures timely and accurate filing of tax returns. Recommends ways to minimize corporate tax through use of tax laws and regulations. May administer international tax laws and regulations.
6. Works closely with Sales, BU, Revenue Accounting and Order Administration to ensure compliance with local indirect tax rules, revenue rules and corporate guidelines for all sales conducted in the country. Special emphasis on the hardware procurement and sales within the country. Provide guidance on structuring terms and conditions in contracts for local compliance. Review documents and document Synopsys’ policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all indirect and direct tax rules and revenue rules. Recommends and implements process improvements across various functions.
7. Manages the activities of general accounting functions. Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures, and policies, including all accounts payable functions. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data. Acts as a liaison between the company, government, and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes
8. Personally review and approve all local filings as necessary
Risk Management

14. Monitor all open legal, tax and compliance issues involving the subsidiary
15. Construct and monitor reliable control systems
16. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
17. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
18. Maintain relations with auditors, tax agencies and other local authorities

Requirements:

  • Post Graduate degree or equivalent is expected.
  • 15 years of relevant work experience ideally gained through a combination of public accounting and public company experience.
  • Prior experience working in a global company with dispersed operations and a strong global mindset. Specific knowledge of software or services business is highly preferred.
  • Must have strong technical expertise in accounting and finance. Expertise in local laws, direct and indirect taxes is recommended.
  • Expertise in understanding industry trends, impact of external and internal forces affecting business.
  • Strong analytic, financial modeling and reporting skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships within all functional departments.
