Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen is seeking a comparative/translational anatomic Pathology Director to work in the Department of Translational Safety and Bioanalytical Sciences. In this vital role you will contribute to the drug development process from target identification and validation through product registration.

Primary responsibilities of the Pathology Director include:

  • Anatomic pathology and toxicology expertise across a wide range of activities in support of the portfolio.
  • Toxicologic pathology support for regulatory studies.
  • Discovery and investigative pathology support for the portfolio.
  • Serve as a nonclinical safety representation on interdisciplinary product teams.
  • Interpret, manage, and analyze a wide range of datasets and literature.
  • Problem solves nonclinical safety issues and provide context of translational human risk.
  • Provide pathology expertise for anatomic pathology peer reviews for Amgen.
  • Provide nonclinical expertise in activities related to regulatory submissions.
  • Develop strong working partnerships within Amgen Research e.g., Medicinal Chemistry, Therapeutic Areas

Basic Qualifications:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with and board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP), or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD and/or post-doctoral research in a relevant discipline (e.g., life sciences, molecular biology).
  • 10 years + of industry experience demonstrating a record of achievement.
  • Ability to critically evaluate and interpret results of experiments and integrate datasets and literature.
  • Subject matter expert in reproductive pathology and developmental and reproduction toxicology
  • Ability to work independently, build productive cross-functional collaborations, and manage conflict.
  • Demonstrated learning agility, resilience, and teamwork skills
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated growth in responsibilities and leadership.
