Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION The Director of Americas Business Development Energy Transition, reports to the Vice President of Energy Transition Global Business Development within Energy Solutions and Services (ESS). As the Director of Americas Business Development, you will work across senior management to identify commercial and financial solutions for equipment, services, and commercialization of new technologies, services, and business models to increase the company’s competitive position. This position plays a critical role in supporting and driving strategy development and implementation. This role will also assist in developing inorganic growth strategy and lead commercial evaluations of target opportunities working in collaboration with Corporate M&A and Electrical Sector Business Development and Strategy. The role will provide senior management with the insight required to drive sound decision-making. In this matrix leadership capacity, the position will influence the strategic business segments to develop an operating culture that focuses on delivering results against strategic long-range planning objectives. In this role, you will be directly involved in shaping the strategy, but also to get it implemented by working with the business divisions across the Americas region. You will also have the key role of developing and working with the Electrical Sector team, capable of modelling business and provide leaders with best information for decision making. You will work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders, will be an instrumental member to ESS leadership in the Americas and Energy Transition GPL. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Collaborating with senior management to develop segment and/or financial strategies for the Americas region and define the role of investments, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships. Develop and manage a robust pipeline of new growth initiatives and opportunities. Lead the development and implement strategy and analytic processes & tools. Build analytical models and perform market and financial analyses to comprehensively value opportunities and ensure that solutions are well-founded, and recommendations are presented to the Executive Leadership team. Build and manage a Americas regional support team as opportunities develop, capable of evaluating large-scale commercial transactions and strategic planning activities through financial, operational, and functional due diligence on large- scale transactions. Develop key talent and capability in commercial development. Provide analytical and valuation support to senior management as well as support negotiating strategies for bids & tender stages of major contracts, new technologies or business models. Identify and pursue opportunities in attractive adjacent markets. Provide business rational and risk assessment to senior management on a wide range of business issues, and implementation tactics. Define and execute necessary processes to ensure growth initiatives achieve goals, measures, and performance indicators with key stakeholders. Monitor growth metrics to ensure plans are progressing to achieve strategic objectives and direct additional actions to be taken when problems and risks are identified. Partner with the finance function and members of the senior management team to ensure financial models are developed in alignment with strategic plans to provide insights into investments. Partner with business leaders to prepare and present new business model and solutions to highlight these are expected to promote sustainable business growth Key Performance Metrics: Growth, margin expansion, market share, Return on investment, both organic and inorganic Develop Organizational capability Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related area or a 10+ years of experience in the energy markets sector Progressive experience in business development and/or corporate strategy roles 5+ years of people leadership or management experience Willingness to travel up to 50% PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master of Business Administration or Masters in related area Experience with large-scale international commercial transactions Eaton considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with local laws.
