Job Description

This position works in the Global EHS team, supporting the development, implementation and evolution of process and performance excellence capabilities for the organization. The Director, Business Performance & Excellence CoE –is a pivotal role within our organization that acts as a business advisor, industry expert, ambassador and change agent for process and Performance Excellence at the EHS organization.

The BP &E Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of key initiatives and projects across multiple business functions in support of our operational excellence program, digital strategy and strategic objectives. The department enables teams and business functions to reduce waste by improving efficiencies, improving productivity, and reducing rework and waste through the use and application of continuous improvement tools, techniques, and methodologies such as lean manufacturing and lean six sigma.

This role will have direct responsibility for the ehss applications performance and improvement roadmap, integration and optimization of EHS global programs, establishing key relationships and benchmarking in the industry, evaluating emerging technologies to improve programs tracking and execution, developing solutions through predictive analysis. This role will be responsible for implementing and sustaining a learning organization program scalable to all functions across the network.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise, guide, drive and support the development, implementation and continuous improvement and direction for the overall process using Process and Performance Excellence tools, methods expertise, analysis, and insight.
  • Provide thought leadership and support the development and implementation of Global Performance and Process Excellence standards
  • In alignment with the Global Performance and Process Excellence standards, develop, implement, and evolve a strategic process performance and management framework to mature process performance.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support the implementation of frameworks, methodologies, and tools for driving process excellence and creating a culture of continuous improvement throughout the process/systems.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of the process performance and management framework
  • In collaboration with the process teams, guide, co-develop and implement process performance measurements.
  • Advise and support the identification and proper selection of customer and process KPIs.
  • Guide and support the approach to implementing the cascading of KPIs to the various functional teams that enable and execute within the process.
  • Guide and support the development and implementation of effective prioritization of process improvement efforts to improve process performance.
  • Guide and support the process teams in sustaining process performance in accordance with set process metrics.
  • Continuously engage across the organization, senior stakeholders, process teams, Functional stakeholders, and other interdependencies to identify and qualify process impacts and process improvement opportunities, and help lead, guide or support changes
  • Guide and support the process teams to share best practices and increase long term capability, advise on process improvement approaches
  • Develop and evolve capability Build strategy
  • Proactively build and maintain internal and external networks in building Company’s brand, to effectively develop and foster a culture of innovation, including challenging and advising the business to better understand the impact of existing policies, processes, and ways of working to drive greater innovation and value.
  • Inspire, influence, and deliver new ways of working collaboratively within the business; driving efficiency and performance excellence as well as matrix working with process teams and functions to ensure maximum value and achievement of long-term challenges.
  • Directly lead highly motivated, capable and innovative Global Performance Excellence team members, as well as indirectly lead, influence and guide process and functional teams to achieve Process and Performance Excellence vision and strategy.
  • Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports.
  • Strategic Development of and Cascading of KPIs
  • Significant experience in Process to workflow Modelling, Business Process Management (BPM)
  • Process and / or Performance Excellence
  • Lean and / or Six Sigma
  • Leadership skills and business acumen - performance driven
  • Broad strategic thinker, with clear vision and direction of world class change management
  • Strong Program and Project management skills
  • Works well in team environment, with sound negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or emotional issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations and 4 years of experience OR
  • Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations and 8 years of experience  OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations and 10 years of experience AND
  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree (Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, MBA)
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
  • Experience in Engineering, Operations and/or Operational Excellence related roles
  • 4+ years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Expert on LEAN Manufacturing methodologies and in-depth knowledge of other Continuous
  • Improvement methodologies along with practical experience with their application
  • Proven project management skills and demonstrated ability to execute and manage complex projects and programs
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA)
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strategic Development of and Cascading of KPIs
