In this vital role The Director, Commercial Data Governance works in partnership with Global Commercial Data Strategy Executive Director to develop and coordinate a comprehensive Global Commercial Data Governance, Acquisition, and Planning program that ensures adherence to compliant operating principles and policies. This role is responsible for defining and continuously improving the Global Commercial Data & Analytics services and contracting strategy, as well as leading the development of the future Commercial data services roadmap that aligns to business priorities and strategic imperatives. This role will also be responsible for leading, defining and implementing our Global Digital Data Strategy in collaboration with cross functional and Global partners.

This role must collaborate effectively across key functions within Global Commercial Operations (i.e. Sales, Marketing, Field Excellence, Digital, Value and Access, Commercial Regions and Affiliates, etc.) as well as other corporate functions including but not limited to: Digital Health and Innovation (DHI), Enterprise Data Strategy, GCO DTI, Privacy, Compliance, HR, The Center for Observational Research (CfOR), and Procurement (GSS) among others.

Key responsibilities

• Defines and oversees complaint Commercial Data Governance and Acquisition strategy, processes, and policies, with on focus on continuous improvement and efficiency
• Oversees team accountable for owning the execution planning for new data assets from contracting to onboarding, including collaborating across functions to define requirements and partnering with GCOIS to ensure systems readiness for new data assets
• Coordinates Commercial Cross-Functional Governance program to define and prioritize data and analytics needs
• Evaluates business requests for new data assets and scans market for new data assets in anticipation of business needs, recommends changes and enhancements to data acquisition plan based on changing business needs
• Calls out opportunities to consolidate top vendors across functions and optimize contracts
• Provides expertise on current data assets and puts controls in place to ensure no redundancy of purchases across data assets and reporting services
• Partners with Executive Director, Global Data Strategy and GSS to develop contracting strategies that optimize data spend
• Serves as liaison between Global Commercial Sales & Marketing teams and data & analytics vendors
• Coordinates data vendor partners, including working with vendors on data training and developing processes to address data related issues
• Collaborates cross-functionally to advise on Commercial data assets as well as Commercial Data & Analytics processes, and looks for opportunities to optimize spend by partnering with other functions
• Defines and tracks metrics and KPI’s related to data usage, access, onboarding cycle times, and spend to drive productivity and continuous improvement
• Facilitates the Global Data Advisory Council, driving and agenda that ensures Executive Members are advised and consulted on key data and analytics capabilities, projects, decisions, and strategies; includes cross-functional partners where appropriate
• Collaborates with IS and Data Sciences teams to actively develop options for progressing technology, analytics, and data
• Lead team of 3 plus contractor team (vendor support)

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of digital, analytics, or data strategy experience

Or

Master’s degree and 8 years of digital, analytics, or data strategy experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of digital, analytics, or data strategy experience

And

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to establish vision, mission, strategy, and implement execution plans and processes
• Deep understanding of pharmaceutical data sources and how they are used, including but not limited to sales, customer, patient, plan/payer, claims, lab, etc.
• Consistent record of collaborating cross-functionally and leading cross functional programs
• Strong discernment and ability to translate business questions into data requirements
• Excellent communication, process management, and project leadership skills
• Executive presence and negotiation skills
• Excellent tact and facilitation skills; ability to influence without authority
• Stays abreast of industry trends and standard methodologies; experience driving process improvement and innovation
• Experience analyzing and translating data
• Experience developing and implementing policy
