Job Title: Director – Data & Analytics

Location: Open to all US Hub Sites – Nashville, TN area preferred.                             

Mars has identified the ability to acquire, analyze and activate data and data-driven approaches as a key enabler to providing quality insights to support future growth.

This role will develop and articulate the strategic data and analytics roadmap in support of established functions, such as Insights, Marketing, Sales, Supply, and R&D.

 

Working closely with Global Petcare & Digital Technologies, manage the transition of new technologies, processes, and lead the organization into a digital operating model

 Directly involved in strategic decisions, identifying breakthrough solutions to critical business problems to ensure we have competitive advantage in the marketplace

 

The appointed candidate and team will be responsible for identifying and integrating all relevant data and advanced analytics to drive sustainable unit growth and supporting MARS’ Petcare ecosystem evolution.

What are we looking for? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Consumer/Shopper Insights or related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MA, or PhD) preferred.
  • Candidate should have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in business-technology, with a significant track record in Data & Analytics including mixing 1st Party Data with other sources, Consumer/Shopper Insights and Market Research with extensive experience leading globally diverse teams.
  • Highly data literate, proven ability to generate insights from a wide variety of data sources (syndicated data, ad hoc research, 3rd party sources, and 1st party data) to create scalable insights.
  •  Strong experience in market/consumer/shopper insights, data management, advanced analytics, and market intelligence (preferably in CPG).
  • Ability to translate complex data and information into simple, inspiring stories.
  • Proven business problem solving through technology requiring high levels of business acumen.
  • The candidate must provide strategic leadership, offering both conceptual and practical solutions and recommendations to Mars leadership and building compelling business cases for new programs.
  • Strategic Agility and Managing Vision and Purpose are critical in ensuring an appropriate and constantly evolving strategy for the area of Integration is embedded in the team and effectively communicated to key stakeholders and the global associate population.
  • Project/Program management experience of complex global projects.
  • Global Line management and people development.
  • Budget Management and demonstrable financial acumen.

 

What will be your key responsibilities? 

 

  • Deliver results connected to OGSM and specific to function, value created, # of projects, time to complete
  • Create the Mars US Pet Nutrition data and analytics strategy and educate leadership and broader organization on the possibilities of new data sets and technologies at a strategic level.
  • Work with Mars Digital Technologies to build and drive these capabilities within Mars Pet Nutrition.
  • On the critical issue of digital privacy, ensure that Mars Pet Nutrition builds a data ecosystem in a privacy secure manner.
  • Translate business needs and frame business problems in creative ways and solve them through application of big data, analytics and research.
  • Shape and deliver the strategy for Data, Analytics at Mars Pet Nutrition, and co-lead the vision for Mars Pet Nutrition and Petcare (through x-segment/division collaboration).
  • Manage Data, Analytics vendors, and budget locally (SWB, Ad Hoc Analytics/Data Spend).
  • Lead all Mars Pet Nutrition Data, Analytics Associates, lead the capability agenda (incl. new methodologies and tools), engagement and talent pipeline at Mars Pet Nutrition.
  • Collaborate to ensure that a rich vendor ecosystem brings leading edge skills and insights into Mars Pet Nutrition.
  • As a member of the strategy LT, shape the vision, strategy and talent agenda at Mars Pet Nutrition
