As a CO+I Director of Datacenter Field Operations Integration, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

As the Director of Datacenter Field Operations Integration for the Americas, you will be our voice and partner with peer groups across multiple organizations to drive excellence in data center design standards, construction, commissioning, utilization, while ensuring seamless onboarding of newly launched owned and leased facilities into the field operations portfolio.

 

Responsibilities

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Empower a culture of safety, security and compliance in all aspects of datacenter operations  
  • Enhance existing end to end process into a seamless onboarding experience for newly launched owned and leased facilities, into field operations
  • Evaluate, strategically optimize, and a drive a program to gain efficiencies in short- and long-term utilization across our data center fleet
  • Employ clear lines of communication and feedback considering lessons learned between field operations and peer teams related to data center design and construction
  • Represent field operations needs and interests while newly owned and leased facilities are advancing through various early stages and into commissioning and turnover ensuring the highest standards in quality, reliability, availability and safety are met
  • Collaborate with Campus Directors to ensure operating procedures are documented accurately and that appropriate training and hand-offs are conducted during the onboarding process of new facilities with precision timing
  • Manage escalations and issues that may arise by partnering with peer organizations to ensure appropriate resolutions are sought and implemented minimizing impact to service delivery and commissioning timelines
  • Foster an understanding of the various stakeholders, their interests, and needs ensuring the teams can sustain and embrace the changes through clear communications, engagement, and appropriate governance throughout onboarding and integration of newly owned and leased facilities into field operations

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • At least ten years business management and leadership experience in a production datacenter environment or related experience
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional ability to collaborate, openly communicate, present, and negotiate effectively across groups of various levels and disciplines, such as government entities, senior company leaders, engineers, suppliers, partners, technicians, customers, etc.
  • Experience in leading, directly managing, and influencing a diverse organization of full-time employees, across multiple disciplines and platforms
  • Demonstrated experience delivering results with ambiguous and changing business requirements, with strong ability to work independently in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
  • Background in data center design, construction, and infrastructure operations and experience in planning and executing data center transformational programs
  • Experience with design of next generation data center networks enabling cloud computing including technologies such as network virtualization, unified network fabric, and software defined networks
  • A solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Awareness of IT Service Operations fundamentals and principles. (ITIL, MOF, OLA/SLA, CSI, etc.)
  • Project or program management experience and certification(s) (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen, PMI, etc.)

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
