SUMMARY
The Director, Finance functions as a financial and accounting leader for the Maggie Far East Co. Ltd. located in Juijiang, China in coordination with corporate financial leadership in the Atlanta, GA to effectively manage and control the accounting and finance activities of the manufacturing company activities. Leads the financial accounting staff and is responsible for: Month and year-end closing activity and the periodic reporting of financial results which includes balance sheet, cash flow and income statement, and supports the preparation of budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the corporate FP&A function. The role is also responsible for all accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable activities, involvement in audits, cost accounting and daily managerial accounting as well as key working capital metrics including management of inventory, receivables and payables. The ideal candidate will be able to take financial goals and break them down for the organization at each level to track and monitor financial success.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead all month-end and year-end close activities and assign duties to the accounting staff in Juijiang for Maggie Far East Co. Ltd. This includes leadership of all the accounting business cycles including revenue, expenditure, fixed assets, and conversion cycles with emphasis on inventory and cost of goods sold to ensure complete and accurate financial results.
- Lead the standard costing process and collaborate with manufacturing, operations and procurement to ensure accurate, complete and timely standard costs are reflected within the production BOMs, general ledger and financial reports. Assist with the development, implementation and cadence of standard costing methodology as needed. This includes reconciliation of units and inventory at standard cost between materials subledgers and the general ledger. Coordinates activities with corporate teams as needed.
- In collaboration with the corporate FP&A team, support the preparation of the annual operating budget and monthly forecasts.
- Responsible for internal controls at the manufacturing operations.
- Analyze and accurately report current month’s financial results to the plant, and corporate management in accordance with approved format and time requirements.
- Submit all necessary financial and reporting information to corporate in an accurate and timely manner .
- Ensure accuracy of the periodic inventory of fixed assets and/or inventory physical count procedures and reported results are appropriate. Investigate and explain all book to physical adjustments.
- Perform audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly. Report audit results in accordance with corporate time requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate input of bill of material and price code changes.
- Ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations.
- Attend plant production meetings as needed or required by operations.
- Review labor reporting and cost, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels.
- Analyze potential excess and obsolete inventory and fixed asset items in accordance with corporate time requirements.
- Ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled in accordance with corporate policy .
- Analyze internal controls to ensure all assets are adequately safeguarded.
- Assist in maintaining ERP accounting systems and all subledgers to ensure the proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping of company transactions are maintained in accordance with US and China Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist with ERP implementation activities related to all accounting/finance modules used by the company manufacturing operations as required .
- Assure the general ledger records are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the U.S. as well as in China. Resolve accounting and internal controls questions with corporate financial management.
- Support all other joint venture investments, licensing activities, and China sales activities as they develop.
- Support all regional regulatory/statutory tax filing and audit requirements.
- Assist in the completion of special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on Finance/Accounting
- Minimum 8 years as a Director, Finance, Controller or other relevant financial leadership experience
- Must be proficient in all MS Office programs, with advanced skills in Excel
- Knowledge of ERP systems, implementation and periodic maintenance experience on applications such as Yonyou U9, Kingdee, Oracle, SAP
- Must possess strong prioritization skills; flexibility and ability to multi-task on a daily basis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese
- Ability to operate both strategically and operationally
- Demonstrated experience working with teams made up of multiple regions and cultures is preferred.
- Heavy manufacturing, trading company, Inventory and cost accounting experience preferred
EDUCATION & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, or Finance or B usiness A dministration with accounting concentration
- Familiarity with consumer product and/or international companies preferred
- Must interact well in a team environment and lead by example
- Strong attention to detail, superior analytical capability, and excellent verbal and written communications a must
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- CICPA or US CPA license preferred
COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
