We are looking for a “Director Government Affairs EU”, supporting the Government Affairs EU (GA EU) team on a broad variety of European policy issues like e.g., Green and Digital transformation of industry, Sustainability, Environmental policies incl. Circular Economy, Supply Chain Due Diligence. Our Government Affairs EU team based in Brussels continuously monitors European political developments and follows up on regulatory opportunities for Siemens’s businesses. In close cooperation with our internal business partners, the team develops and implements advocacy strategies, conducts outreach, and proactively leverages government relations to support our services and business models. At the same time, Siemens is committed to contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through its products and solutions, its responsible business practices in ~200 countries, through strategic partnerships and targeted community activities. Your new role – what you will do The objective is to identify in close synchronization with the other members of the Brussels EU team, regulatory opportunities for Siemens’s businesses, with a broad focus on mainly - but not restricted to - sustainability topics at EU level e.g., Green Deal, Fit for 55, RePowerEU, Sustainable Finance, Circular Economy Action Plan and Supply Chain Due Diligence. In this role you will work closely with the global Siemens Government Affairs team, businesses, and corporate units to help identify top business priorities to be reflected in the regulatory framework. Together with the GA EU team members you will support our advocacy and outreach strategy through active involvement in business associations and through direct contacts with political stakeholders. Your responsibilities ➢ Research and identify relevant EU legislation, policy initiatives, and funding opportunities and assess their implications for Siemens’ business activities. ➢ Contribute to briefings for board members; prepare presentations. ➢ Contribute to regular policy briefings and updates for the management and expert functions (e.g., Sustainability department, EHS department). ➢ Participate in strategic representation activities and liaise with external stakeholders. ➢ Organize and participate in relevant EU events, panel discussions or information sessions. ➢ Build up and maintain a large network of counterparts at EU institutions and in the related environment. Your qualifications You have an excellent university degree in political sciences, law and /or in a related field of expertise. You have at least 5 years of experience in an EU Government Affairs or equivalent environment (e.g., in EU institutions or national ministries, in European industry association or in a Government Affairs unit of a company, in a public affairs consultancy or a similar role) ideally related to European Policy issues that are relevant for Siemens’s businesses. Following attributes describe you: good understanding of EU regulations and EU politics, passion for politics, excellent written and oral communication skills, keen interest in technologies, familiar with major Siemens relevant businesses. The chosen candidate is a team player, has strong advocacy skills to maximize value for Siemens in multi-stakeholder environments. Fluent English skills are essential, other language skills, especially German, are an additional asset.
