Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Internal Communications Engagement are to:

  • Provide strategic employee communications consulting for enabling functions (including Human Resources (HR), Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Quality and Corporate Affairs); prepare internal leadership positioning and messages for the respective U.S. Country Leadership Team members, including presentations, talking points, speeches and executive remarks for events such as town hall meetings, major change announcements, and other internal events; direct employee communications strategies for relevant programs, processes, policies and practices managed by these functional groups that affect daily work experiences of employees; develop programming and outreach that fosters employee connectedness of US HR, HSE and Quality, leveraging both traditional communication channels and interactive experiences;
  • In partnership with the U.S. External Communications team, take agement, are to: lead role in the coordination of an ongoing executive visibility program for respective U.S. Country Leadership Team members and other senior executives, including plans and preparations for speaking engagements, related corporate sponsorships, media interviews and other engagements;
  • Provide strategic employee communications consulting and implementation of programs driving corporate reputation, including Corp. Philanthropy/Community Engagement, STEM education events and activities, employee volunteer programs, legislative activation and Bayer PAC engagement, and country-wide internal communications support for Inclusion and Diversity at a corporate level and for Bayer’s Business Resource Groups. This includes special projects supporting Bayer’s brands in the U.S., as needed;
  • Develop strategy and messaging to create and promote employee stories internally and externally to bolster company reputation through the people behind our Bayer brand; lead employee communications for engagement in corporate reputation programs, including, sponsorships, partnerships, employee volunteer programs and branding;
  • Provide strategic input into country-wide editorial process for respective areas across all internal and select external employee-generated content channels. Collaborate with the internal communicators supporting business divisions and enabling functions in coordinating editorial planning programs initiated by respective areas that impact all employees for U.S. wide channels with local, functional and/or divisional channels;
  • Serve as internal communications lead for change communications framework U.S-wide, and for communications planning and execution as necessary. Lead and drive the change communications strategy for U.S. enabling functions; provide internal change communications support for U.S. business divisions in collaboration with their internal communications team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fifteen plus years’ experience in leading and implementing successful strategic internal communications programs and operations, preferably within the health care and/or agriculture industries;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Journalism required; Master’s degree a plus;
  • Proven experience in leading and executing best in class communications supporting HR, wellness and corporate social responsibility programs and efforts, including engaging employees and managing/leading local and/or national STEM activation programs;
  • Experience in developing and executing successful, broad, best in class change communications strategies and programs;
  • Strategic mind-set, with demonstrated success in developing, managing and delivering innovative, best-in-class communication strategies and programs in a large, complex global organization;
  • Experience supporting senior executives and working with leadership teams to develop and implement strategic leadership communications programs;
  • Solid business insight and experienced at translating business goals into proactive communications strategies to drive results;
  • Success in developing and/or managing data analysis and reporting for internal communications, programs, campaigns, etc;
  • Ability to produce clear, compelling, creative, motivating content and effectively and succinctly communicate complex concepts in a variety of formats, including key messages, Q&A, executive speeches, collateral materials, video scripts and PowerPoint presentations;
  • Superior interpersonal communication, teamwork, collaboration, supervisory skills; values inclusion and diversity;
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships across a variety of constituencies; strong customer service and collaboration orientation;
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive information and communications while maintaining strict confidentiality; exhibits grace and calmness under pressure; agile, adaptable, flexible

  • Domestic and international travel; the individual will be required to travel once a month to Bayer’s healthcare HQ in NJ;
