The position of Director of National Sales is within our Consumer Products and Services Business Unit of the Rapid Diagnostics Division at Abbott. The Leadership opportunity is responsible for leading the sales organization of ACH. As such, the incumbent will develop sales strategies, forecasts sales volumes, develops and executes sales policies, objectives, goals and programs.  In addition, this role is a key member of the BU’s SLT, with a strong focus for  the organization’s short and long term strategies/initiatives in two primary markets, Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) implant hospitals, and International Normalized Ratio (INR) physician offices and clinics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs activities of outside sales, inside sales, clinical specialists and sales operations to plan procedures, establish responsibilities, and coordinate functions among staff by assigning or delegating responsibilities.
  • Develops and implements strategic action plans for sales representatives.
  • Oversees Enterprise accounts in collaboration with regional sales managers.
  • Works collaboratively with Human Resources department to deliver impactful programs and initiatives to impact commercial performance.
  • Leads field-based clinical sales and support.
  • Works collaboratively with Finance to develop and execute managed care strategy and leads sales aspects for managed care contracting.
  • Manages professional Field Sales activities, communicates changes and progress.
  • Coordinates with and supports field representative efforts with large accounts to insure positive outcomes.
  • Deploys field staff to effectively represent company.
  • Develops and implements techniques regarding call handling strategies, up-selling, selling protocols, cross selling, and “strong product” (service) knowledge.  Monitors technique’s effectiveness and adjusts as needed.
  • Directs and assists sales representatives with maintaining relationships with customers and field representatives.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing to develop programs and marketing materials/literature.
  • Participates in special projects as required including advising strategic partners of implementation and growth models to increase profit.
  • Follows all regulatory policies, procedures, privacy and security standards in accordance with government agencies to include HIPAA requirements.
  • Maintains accuracy of time and attendance data for area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a culture of accountability by setting clear objectives for all employees in areas of responsibility through regular follow-up, variance tracking and results.
  • Responsible for the selection of associates, setting of expectations, and for the motivation and development of new hires within areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts accurate and timely assessment of subordinate staff through Abbott Performance Management processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 10+ years related Sales Leadership experience
  • Travel by car or airplane for long periods.
  • Overnight travel required.
