Position Title: Director, Pricing, Contracting & Negotiations

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice-President of Patient Access, Government Affairs and Pricing, you are a key strategic leader within AstraZeneca Canada. You will build and implement pricing strategies, in close partnership with our IVS Lead, for AstraZeneca’s portfolio of products and for all private and public payer listing negotiations.
- Lead, develop and cultivate the Pricing, Contracting & Negotiations team, creating a team culture aligned to AstraZeneca’s values, fostering an environment of innovation, a solutions oriented approach to problem solving and a strong focus to achieve results
- Oversees development and approval of pricing strategies and PMPRB submissions
- Establish price guidance and launch pricing strategies including list prices, global floor prices and exceptions management
- Establish & monitor pricing metrics including year-over-year price variance by brand and by region and net price performance vs. targeted goals
- Secure Canadian and Global pricing approvals and ensure all pricing requirements are met including compliance with all PMPRB legal obligations
- Develop & maintain market pricing intelligence and monitor trends and developments in the pricing environment to evaluate the potential impact and proactively identify strategies and actions
- Remains current on pricing environment and engages with IMC and key industry colleagues to proactively identify emerging government health policy changes and cost containment initiatives in the market place. Advises and leads responses to policy changes that involve pricing
- Direct strategy, and implement processes for the planning and analyses of rebates and chargebacks for all commercial and government contracts
- Collaborate with business units to create and communicate the pricing requirements for each business segment, develop the financial models, consolidate data to allow for multiple views of the information, and prepare presentations for leadership review. Work with Commercial Financial Planning to understand the financial impact of current gross-to-net reserves, pipeline stocking, existing and future contracting on Net Sales results
- Working in collaboration with the Patient Access and marketing teams, develop negotiation strategies and identify and develop innovative listing agreement (ILA) frameworks for both all payers
- Lead negotiations with the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance Office to secure listings and develop effective working relationships with pCPA Office
- Continually build negotiations and ILA capabilities of the team to ensure leading-edge capabilities within team

Qualifications:
- Significant relevant pharmaceutical experience (–7-10+ years) in pricing
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Canadian payer environment and PMPRB specifically
- Previous negotiations experience with pCPA and with private payers.
- Experienced team and people leader with previous people management experience
- Ability to think strategically about complex and systematic challenges, and able to build results oriented approaches
- Oncology experience is an asset
- Network of external Payer contacts highly desirable
- Business knowledge and credibility at senior commercial levels required
- Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities
- Excellent communications skills (written, spoken and presentation)
- Bachelors’ degree in relevant discipline
- Fluency in French is an advantage
