Director, Revenue Management – Group Strategy

Overseeing Fairmont Waterfront, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim, and Fairmont Vancouver Airport, the Director, Revenue Management - Group Strategy will report to the Area Director, Revenue Management, based at the Fairmont Waterfront. The ideal candidate will have experience in revenue management and hotel distribution and support strategies for maximizing revenue, market share and profitability.

What you will be doing:

  • Working within the Vancouver Revenue Management team to align strategies of Fairmont Waterfront, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim and Fairmont Vancouver Airport in order to win the business for the brand. Combined hotels have over 1800 guest rooms
  • Collaborate with experienced Wholesale and Group Sales professionals to evaluate business opportunities
  • High level of business acumen, with focus on continuous development and improvement
  • Communicate strategy within revenue management cluster, as well as effectively present to hotel Executive team members
  • Leverage Revenue Management analytics, technologies, processes, tools and training programs to optimize hotel profits
  • Create accurate short and long term forecasts, achieving forecast accuracy across all profit streams
  • Participates in the annual budget process and produces long term projections as required
  • Maximizes room revenue contribution through a thorough understanding of all booking channels and management of inventory and rate therein
  • Partner with Vancouver Convention Center and Destination Vancouver to identify need periods for hotels and develop strategies to "win" the business for Vancouver
  • Complete special projects to creatively find new ways to generate revenues, including restaurant revenue management and spa revenue management. Co-Chair of the Restaurant Revenue Management program with the Director, Food & Beverage to ensure venue revenues are maximized and optimized
  • Liaise with Reservations, Front Office, Catering and Sales to ensure the highest level of guest service is maintained while maximizing profit
  • Mentors Revenue Manager and Analyst to be fully versed in all aspects of Revenue Management and provided guided learning to other team members as needed, so that all areas of the hotel that impact revenue are fully aware of the hotel RM strategies and understand their role in the plan
  • Monitors key indicators of hotel performance and third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of required reporting including but not limited to month end commentary, strategic planning of budget and marketing plans, tracking and analysis of competitive set pricing and yield strategies in collaboration with the Director, Sales
  • Through analysis of function space usage, propose and implement strategies to maximize utilization
  • Works with Director of Sales & Marketing to evaluate group thresholds
  • Reviews competitive set pricing, yield strategies and completes analysis of the market and its opportunities based upon the competition

Your experience and skills include:

  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, long-range planning and strong analytical skills are required
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to represent ideas succinctly and convincingly in discussion forums, written documents or one on one conversations
  • Previous leadership experience within a similar role preferred but not required
  • In depth knowledge in the use of automated systems including but not limited to RMS, PMS, CRS, Channel Management Tools, Extranets, as well as Microsoft Office suite is preferred
  • Superior organization skills required, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints
  • Proven ability to work cohesively as part of a team in a multi-cultural, diverse environment, strong interpersonal and team building skills are required
  • University/College degree in area of business or hospitality preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Team player and proven team builder

Your team and working environment: Key Working Relationships: Area Director, Revenue Management, Revenue Management Leaders.  This position will also work closely with Sales Leaders, Sales Support, and Reservations Teams.

 

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.  The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
