Director, Services Operations and Reporting

Location:  This position has the flexibility to be based from a home office, EST preferred

 

Part of Bentley Systems’ Global Controllership function, the Director, Services Operations and Reporting is responsible for managing the Bentley’s Global Services Operations team to support effective and efficient delivery of Professional Services to Bentley’s users and to drive assurance around the completeness and accuracy of revenue reporting for such services.  This position currently manages three direct reports and a global team of over 25 colleagues.  This is a hands-on role, with high exposure to various senior management throughout the company.   Successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of progressive management experience and an ability to succeed in an a high-change environment. 

 

The Services Operations team is comprised of three functional groups, Services Operations, Services Governance, and Project Control Analysis with a primary focus on ensuring project administration services are provided in a timely, efficient, and effective manner, and in accordance with all Company policies and procedures.  The Director, Services Operations and Reporting is responsible for defining and improving operational processes, tools, and procedures and also serves as liaison between departments in order to optimize departmental interfaces and utilization of Bentley resources, and to improve and streamline processes.  Lastly, the Director, Services Operations and Reporting will be responsible for further establishing a robust analysis function for Bentley’s growing professional services offerings, whether delivered via the User Success group or the Cohesive Companies, Bentley’s digital integrators. 

This position is accountable to the Senior Director, Technical Accounting, Revenue and Reporting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate, and administer operational resources to support execution of the Bentley portfolio of projects with regard to performance and user satisfaction
  • Global responsibility for project administration and ensuring overall standards, processes, and controls for administrative tasks are met.  Escalates potential issues promptly.
  • Develop concise and repeatable reporting that drives insight into professional services related performance.
  • Provide actionable intelligence to Senior Management regarding both projected and actual financial results.  
  • Work collaboratively with various cross-functional leadership to drive successful outcomes.
  • Manage performance, report progress, and initiate actions to ensure work is performed within specified processes among the Services Operations team
  • Provide thought leadership and proactive support to services project managers and practice leaders
  • Actively contribute to the evolution of Bentley professional services processes, support, standards, tools, and technologies
  • Ensure successful continued operation of the company’s internal controls over financial reporting specific to the Services Operations team.
  • Lead special projects, internal initiatives, and professional development activities
  • Regularly interact with and mentor Services Operations colleagues. Periodically evaluate the competency of each direct report and development of suitable professional development to raise individual competence. Ensure that the same periodic evaluation of indirect reports occurs.
  • Liaison with external auditors
  • Manage integration related activities related to acquired companies

 

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, a technical field, management, or equivalent working experience
  • CPA, CA, MBA preferrable
  • Minimum of 10 years of business experience at least 5 years’ experience in a management position, preferable in a professional service and/or training organization
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong project management skill set.  PMP or similar designation preferrable. 
  • Demonstrable experience in a customer service leadership role
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with energy, presence and sound influencing skills using an assertive and confident approach, and the ability to work and communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in building and managing teams with demonstrated ability to build consensus and motivate others
  • Ability to accept and work in a goal-oriented environment; organizing and prioritizing tasks to achieve agreed goals 
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following is also desirable: 
  • Project management tools such as Microsoft Project 
  • Professional Services Automation tools 
  • Reporting tools such as QlikView 
  • SAP 
  • Willingness and ability to learn other tools and environments 
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work well under pressure
  • Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Commitment to process improvement and the ability to think “out of the box”
  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer. The role requires communication with managers, peers, and other colleagues of the company in person (on occasion), and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling and meeting functions.
  • This role requires infrequent travel to a Bentley office location post COVID
