Director, Transient Sales
Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Director of Transient Sales is responsible for growing business in the Corporate and Local negotiated segments, Consortia/Leisure, and Wholesale/FIT segments. This individual will continue to further penetrate existing accounts, procure new business and will be responsible for meeting an assigned quarterly Sales goal.
What you will be doing:
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue targets in assigned Transient market segments
- Responsible for online RFP Management processes – securing, retaining and developing Transient accounts
- Proactively conduct solicitation calls, conduct sales tours and entertain clients specific to Business Travel, Transient Leisure and FIT/Wholesale
- Grow existing relationships with assigned accounts, and monitor trends within each of the Transient market segments
- Develop strategic relationships with key accounts/agencies with the purpose of penetrating and growing market share and driving revenue to the hotel
- Drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence through each customer experience
- Travel locally and within North America region to conduct outside calls, promote hotel, attend tradeshows
- Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence)
- Responsible for negotiating, implementing and loading rates for negotiated accounts
- Analyze historical, current and future hotel/market trends and develop strategies to maximize occupancy and average daily rate through creative and selective selling
- Remain current on new competition, changes in the market
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and owner reviews
- Participate in management meetings, budget discussion, forecast review and rate pricing strategies
- Participate in yearly creation of transient budget
- Anticipates and identifies business opportunities and challenges status quo
- Increase local penetration of high potential accounts to optimize production
- Create and execute market and account strategies to ensure budgeted targets are achieved
- Market Intelligence to include regular updates on competitive set offerings, market dynamics, customer feedback and current market trends
- Develop a full working knowledge of the overall hotel operations and policies
- Maintain strong visibility in local community and regular participation in industry organizations as applicable
- Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field or equivalent vocational training
- 5 years of experience in Hotel Sales required
- Proven track record in Transient Sales
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated business acumen; able to link value proposition
- Highly developed presentation skills and proven ability to ‘story selling’ e.g. create an emotional connection with the audience
- Results-driven, with energy, commitment, and a strong drive to succeed
- Self-motivated with demonstrated business acumen
- Creative in developing solutions, critical thinking and demonstrating situational flexibility
- Proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products
- Able to work on property
- Travel will be required as necessary
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.
