Job Description
The purpose of this position is primarily to support customers on the application of Rudolph Technologies Lithography Systems (JetStep) for both Panel and Wafer based manufacturing processes. This requires traveling to customer sites to troubleshoot process integration related issues, as well as the evaluation of JetStep performance. The position also supports the customers by training them on system operation and new system features, together with assisting in developing new lithographic processes for JetStep that will result in desired devices. The Senior Applications engineer will also support the account team by providing technical direction for any process related issues and by presenting process/stepper solutions to customers in order to secure future sales of equipment and services. The position also requires the training and mentoring of new Applications engineers together with attending/presenting Apps papers at conferences/forums. In addition, the role supports Marketing and Sales, by developing and reporting on micro-lithographic process techniques and customer roadmaps to ensure JetStep functionality is optimal for the future.
Responsibilities
- Provide both on-site and remote applications support to customers. Assist customers in solving problems related to the application of JetStep to their manufacturing processes.
- Perform experiments and/or analytical investigations within guidelines supplied by development engineers.
- Report on results of experiments, tests and studies, provide preliminary interpretation.
- Aid in design and development of new equipment or redesign of existing systems to meet customer requirements.
- Communicate with external sales personnel and internal departments to determine customer needs and system specifications.
- Apply good problem solving skills to solve customer issues and applications challenges.
- Will be required to work with Marketing to generate publications for conferences and magazine articles
- Demonstrate systems to customers and provide customer training to ensure systems are being used effectively.
- Up to 50% travel is required with extended stays at customer locations
- Research and report to Sales/Marketing on the capability of company projects and competing equipment.
- Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree required, will consider experience versus degree
- >5 years process engineering experience with wafer/panel related processes
- >5 years hands on experience with Steppers and good knowledge of photolithography
- Good written and verbal communication skills essential
- Ability to work with limited direction and take initiative to solve problems
- Can function in a fast paced environment
- Fluency in Japanese, Chinese or Korean is a plus, but not required.
