We are recruiting for a Director of Asset Management & Assurance for our rolling stock’s Customer Service business. This is a key leadership role with the responsibility within Rolling Stock Leadership team for creating the strategy, design and implementation of the necessary and fundamental asset management systems across the business, which will include the responsibility for the key functions of Engineering, Quality Assurance and medium to long-term planning. The role also requires full participation in the Rolling Stock leadership team. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing direction of an effective and coordinated engineering and asset management department supporting all disciplines across Rolling Stock. To support and further improve the capability to deliver safe and compliant customer service, key projects and sales led bid and development activity. You will be responsible for creation and ongoing leadership of the strategic asset management plan for the maintained rolling stock, including the introduction of improved rigorous and measured safety critical systems and the effective management of the risks associated with maintenance, modification and extension of the rolling stock over the contract cycles. You will establish standards, key processes, and monitoring essential to support the effective and systematic maintenance of over 4000 rolling stock vehicles, ensuring their safety and integrity can be demonstrated, and to develop the foundation to deliver the continued profitable business growth of Siemens Rolling Stock. What are my responsibilities? Develops a high performance culture with strong employee engagement using the Siemens People Management policies and tools (PMP objective setting, appraisal and development plan, Succession planning, Recognition schemes etc.) and Siemens Business Conduct Guidelines. Demonstrates excellence in all of the Siemens Management Standards and Siemens Leadership capabilities. Identifies and leads strategic change, supported by the relevant business partners, to deliver a business framework which will effectively deliver, maintain and control a >200% increase in fleet size. Working as part of the Leadership Management team identifies and leads the restructuring of the engineering and quality functions and systems to align these with the business strategy and priorities. Direction and co-ordination of the engineering, planning and support functions to ensure: Siemens is recognized as the industry leader in rail vehicle maintenance engineering, including their management of engineering risks, including safety related issues. Effective development and governance of a quality framework which facilitates consistent delivery meeting customer, contract, and financial requirements. Driving the application of continuous improvement methodology throughout the business. Developing the effective allocation of resource and focus to business priorities across Service, Projects and Sales on a planned and pro-active basis. Organisation/Ownership Culture – leading and embedding the company’s focus on the improvement of people engagement through establishing the right behaviours. Responsible for planning the resourcing requirements, risks, milestones, and on-going support needs of the business. Responsible for establishing the budget for functions in scope, including the long-term outlook, and then deployment and management of that budget. Ensures the registering and management of risk including supporting assessment and mitigations Ensures due consideration of HS&E factors in the assessment and delivery of all activity, utilizing HSE expertise and support where required. What do I need to qualify for this job? Strong experience in leading large teams and driving cultural change. Track record of successful delivery in a rail maintenance environment. Experience in quality and continuous improvement methodologies. Effective stakeholder management and influencing skills. Strong commercial awareness including budget/risk management. Experience of working in a matrix environment. Ability to prioritise & solve and analyse complex problems. Preferred: Qualified to Degree level in engineering & business management. Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance systems and compliance requirements. Project Management qualification. Lean / Lean Six Sigma experience. What else do I need to know? About us We’re Siemens.
