Director of Catering
Through your passion and motivation, you help l
ead a dynamic conference services team to ensure all events held in the hotel and catered off-site are memorable experiences for our guests.  At the same time ensuring that the events are seamless and successful from annual events to high profile conferences to weddings and small meetings.

What you will be doing:

  • Implements policies and procedures to ensure a successful transition of a group’s requirements through the team’s administration of group resumes and BEO’s, as well as pre-con meetings and internal operational meetings.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly catering reports (both forecast and pace).
  • Actively seeks new business and catering events through prospecting and booking business to meet and exceed budgeted revenues.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with clients, prior to, during and post-conference, exceeding their expectations and encouraging repeat business.
  • Setting goals and activities with Catering Managers, Catering Coordinators.
  • Targeting, soliciting and penetrating new accounts for home property
  • Conduct weekly and monthly meetings with all Catering personnel to review current and future catering activities and goals.
  • Conducts site inspections and food tastings with prospective and repeat customers, to ensure we understand the needs of the guests and exceed their expectations during their program.
  • Works closely with the DOSM/Sales Managers to ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out and maximize function space for the highest profitability of the hotel.
  • Attendance at rate strategy meetings and regularly scheduled Sales & Catering Departmental meetings and group business meetings.
  • Liaison between the hotel and in-house AV supplier to maximize audiovisual revenues.
  • Ensure meeting and function rooms are properly maintained at all times liaising with food and beverage outlets regarding reservations and flow of clients.
  • Develops, energizes and leads a motivated, competent and cohesive team through the implementation of the approved incentive program and performance management programs.
  • Prepare an annual budget for approval and administer that budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Develop annual business plans for the department in conjunction with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Responsible for the hiring process and training of new Catering team members.
  • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs.
  • Follow all safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Hotel Catering Management or Sales Management
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Proven ability to plan and organize events effectively, with an acute sense of detail
  • Working knowledge of Sales & Catering, Property Manager and Windows based applications required
  • CMP certification is an asset
  • Experience in Food & Beverage with broad operational knowledge
  • Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or related discipline is an asset

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents
