Duties and Supporting Responsibilities


Provide professional advisory and executive support to the General Manager in the following:


  • Formulation and implementation of the overall sales, marketing and communication strategy related to the hotel. From time to time and as relevant, the DOS will propose strategies and initiatives to augment services and with the intent of improving guest services, employee productivity and competitive positioning. The strategies must be in consonance with the overall positioning and direction of the hotel and brand.
  • Will execute the plan, forecasts and strategic initiatives that have been discussed and initiated. Will provide feedback and alternatives.
  • Preparation of strategic business plans for the hotel specifically pertaining to Public Relations, Advertising and Communications both at the local level and in consonance with guidelines stipulated by MOHG.
  • Formulation and implementation of strategic direction for the hotel’s involvement in the local community.
  • Development of lower and middle management executives through coaching, mentoring and through constant formal interactions at specific yet periodic intervals. To use the Balanced Score Card and other appraisal formats as tools for goals and target settings and to engage in feedback.
  • As a member of the EXCO, the DOS will support and strengthen the hotels position and culture with regards to LQE and the Mandarin Oriental Golden Pillars by constantly engaging fellow colleagues in all disciplines and will serve as custodian and role model.

Sales & Marketing


The DOSM is responsible for the strategic sales and operations of the Sales, Catering, Reservation and PR Developments.


  • He/ She plans and formulates the annual Marketing Plan for the hotel. The plan should incorporate clear and specific action plans for all departments. This will includes Sales & Marketing initiatives and programs for the year to achieve and exceed the budget.
  • Responsible for achieving the Hotel’s total Rooms and Catering revenues as laid out in the Marketing Plan.
  • In addition, the DOSM will be responsible for setting a Measurable Results system for all members of the Sales team and Regional Sales Offices. DOSM is responsible that the team generate new corporate, incentive and travel accounts both locally and overseas.
  • Ensures that PR efforts are in support of the Marketing plans and that there is adequate exposure for the hotel in advertising and promotion plans.
  • Accountable for achieving the Hotel Room Yield, Average Rate and Occupancy targets, as laid out in the Marketing Plan.
  • To ensure that the Relative Rev par positioning of the hotel is in excess of its primary competitive set.
