Job Summary This position will partner with the VP of Finance Transformation to drive the execution of Eaton’s Finance Transformation strategy aimed at centralizing accounting and compliance activities to free-up operations finance personnel to spend more time on business partnering. The role will lead Global Financial Accounting’s efforts related to the overall strategy, with a focus on creating centers of excellence for complex accounting areas such as statutory reporting, tax accounting and government accounting. This role will also be responsible for managing the relationship with the external auditors and driving audit efficiency and will lead the corporate accounting and reporting team responsible for the consolidated financial statements and financial planning & analysis related to corporate expenses. Job Responsibilities Lead Global Financial Accounting’s efforts related to Eaton’s Finance Transformation strategy to centralize all accounting and compliance activities, including defining and deploying the organizational structure necessary to support the strategy Creating centers of excellence for complex accounting areas such as statutory reporting, tax accounting and government accounting Managing the relationship with the external auditors and driving lower fees by partnering with them on audit efficiency initiatives and by supporting ongoing efforts to centralize statutory audits Supporting SOX & Internal Audit modernization with the goal to improve controls, reduce costs, and increase focus efforts on higher risk areas Leading the team responsible for the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules and reporting packages (for actual results, forecast and plan) that are used by senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and in external SEC filings Advising the Controller and other senior leaders on special projects, ad hoc requests, day-to-day questions, and financial results, including developing recommendations on key business drivers, risks, and opportunities Preparing and analyzing the monthly forecast and annual profit plan for corporate expenses and presenting the results to the CEO, CFO and Controller Analyzing the consolidated cash flow statement and balance sheet for actual results, forecast and plan and partnering with Treasury and Global Operations Finance to assess risks and opportunities Building organizational capability by attracting and selecting diverse, high caliber, promotable talent Driving efficiency and process improvement within global accounting by continually challenging the status quo Evaluating complex accounting matters in accordance with US GAAP and presenting alternatives and recommendations to senior leadership in a simple and easy to grasp manner Partnering with various corporate and operational cross-functional teams on key accounting and business issues Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited institution Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting or finance experience Graduate degree in business, finance, or accounting from an accredited institution a plus CPA a plus Previous experience within a large, global manufacturing organization a plus Previous experience with Finance Transformation within a large, global organization a plus Soft Skills Strong leadership skills, capable of project ownership and management on a global scale Highly developed strategic/analytical thinker Ability to express the complex in simple, easy-to-grasp ways, verbally and in writing Comfortable presenting to senior level executives Is curious, inquisitive, and comfortable challenging the status quo Advanced knowledge of US GAAP Strong drive for results Attention to detail and accuracy Detailed knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle and SAP Eaton considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with local laws.
