Director of Development - Kempinski Asia Region


An energetic well-groomed person who assists the Development process for Region Asia under the guidance of the Deputy Managing Director for Key International (Kempinski Asia Region). His/ her task is to coordinate a smooth development process, lead review, contract negotiations, extensions and conversions for projects guaranteeing close coordination with the Legal Team and the Geneva Head Office. This is supported by detailed market studies, financial analyses of projects, monitoring their feasibility and interests of the various stakeholders as well as licensees.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the development process from brand presentation, acquisition of leads to conclusion of the contract.
  • Coordinates contract negotiations with the legal counsel.
  • Collect detailed project information supporting the approval process and projections.
  • Follow the targets set within the Global and Regional Development Strategy in terms of destinations and product criteria.
  • Support pre-fieldwork: Coordinate and maintain contact with Owners and Investors.
  • Organize representations of the brands at development relevant fairs and tradeshow to acquire contacts and to represent the brands Kempinski and NUO.
  • Travel to the subject markets and gather data required for the assignment through interviews with local hotel competition, government officials, and other forms of research.
  • Assist in preparing the financial and market feasibility analysis of projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate together with Finance the potential project performance against the baseline financial models prepared as part of the feasibility analysis.
  • Maintain close communication with the Regional Operations Team, Engineering, Design and Legal Counsel as well as Finance, to consider and incorporate their observations or recommendations, as appropriate, in relation to the project.
  • Participate in bi-monthly Development Conference Calls with Geneva Head Office and ensure close communication and coordination.
  • Update the Corporate Development Database regularly to report the status and progress on the various projects.
  • Prepare project pre-approval and handover presentation. Collect and coordinate all relevant information between the Regional Departments.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year experience in the similar position
  • Ability to work and communicate in a multinational environment, including oral and written language skills in Mandarin and English; Any additional languages are a plus
  • Luxury Hotel Experiences
  • Communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Passion for hospitality and the European elegance of service Bachelor’s or similar degree from an accredited college or university with major work in Tourism/Hotel Management as well as sound training and education in the international luxury hotel business management.
