Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is hiring a Director of Engineering, Services to join our team. This position will be based out of our Burlington, ON facility. Position Overview: The Director Engineering, Services, is responsible for leading, managing and setting the strategic direction for the engineering and technical functions within Services Canada with direct leadership of the Centers of Excellence Engineering (COE) organizations including Power Systems Engineering (PSE), Power Systems Automation Engineering (PSA), Power System Control (PSC), and Training for the Services division within Eaton Canada. As a member of the Leadership Team of Services, the Director of Engineering, is responsible for working with each member of the Services staff to ensure that the COE Engineering Operations provide engineering excellence, customer focus, and financial performance. This position is critical to ensure that financial, growth, technology, and service productivity objectives are met. This is accomplished by ensuring that sound, efficient, and professional engineering practices are utilized while identifying current and future product and services trends that align with our overall business strategy, which allows Eaton to remain competitive with respect to cost, performance, quality, and reliability. The position leads the identification and development of differentiated services that support growth and differentiate Eaton as a preferred solutions provider. In addition, this position is responsible for partnering with customers, sales and operations to solve the most challenging power management problems faced by our customers, demonstrating the technical leadership of Eaton and Services. This position provides oversight, direction, and engineering responsibility for the Service engineering teams in Canada. In this function you will: Services leadership responsibility for accurate, comprehensive design and technical validation for customer orders in complete compliance with customer specifications, applicable engineering standards, safety requirements and legal requirements. Leads the development of the technical talent pipeline including acquisition, deployment, training, development, and retention of key technical talent in the division. Ensures that the division remains in compliance with legal requirements for engineering activity including the availability of PEng’s where necessary to maintain and grow business with our targeted customers and markets. Manages the performance of the Engineering function to the profit plan objectives for cost, utilization, absorption, quality, growth programs and customer satisfaction. Deploys metrics relevant to the function to maintain a high-performance team environment. Participates in industry organizations and associations and maintains relationships with key customer and industry technical leaders while representing Eaton as a leader in electrical technology and capability. Leads Services in the identification of new technologies and customer applications. Establishes and maintains technical standards, documentation, specifications, and procedures for Services technical activities in accordance with the latest industry and legal requirements and best practices. Leads the Services processes for the identification, development, and deployment of new engineering services in coordination with the Services leadership team. Ensures that efforts to improve the efficiency of the Engineering functions are emphasized through creative organizational management, effective use of engineering tools, appropriate training and continuous improvement aligned with EBS. Participates in the strategic planning process for Services as a member of the leadership team. Establishes a division engineering strategy and establishes responsibilities and measures to ensure implementation is realized. Participates with EESS US Engineering Director and Canadian Operation Engineering Manager relative to codes, standards, and operating practices Drives functional excellence initiatives and HR processes for all division Engineering organizations include Talent hub, Succession Planning, Goal Setting, and Merit Planning. Qualifications Basic (Required) Qualifications: BS Degree/ Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Minimum of 10 years of experience in a project/customer order engineering environment Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
