Director of Revenue Management - Remote (1-year Maternity Leave)

Working remotely, based in Toronto, and reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Revenue Management at the Fairmont Winnipeg is responsible for driving total hotel revenue through planning and executing strategic revenue strategies while supporting the hotel in achieving overall profitability goals.  They are responsible for strategic analysis and management of inventory and rate strategies to maximize total revenue opportunities and management of the in-house reservations department

What you will be doing:

  • Maximize room revenue contribution in all distribution channels
  • Manage demand, forecasting, and inventory as it relates to driving revenue opportunity for the hotel
  • Monitor transient potential and group bookings daily to set up the pricing and availability controls for all reservation distribution sources
  • Monitor key indicators of hotel performance and third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities
  • Operationalize hotel and corporate pricing strategies through definition and management of BAR levels, stay restrictions, and other tactics, which are congruent with demand factors and which are managed through all distribution channels.
  • Fully utilize the Revenue Optimization Cycle of the myRPMS/IDeaS system, to ensure that the appropriate overrides are in place, special events are accurately loaded, and the sharing of knowledge with the system is maintained
  • Work with DOS and Sales and Catering Team members to encourage the strategic selection of the right pieces of business, in keeping with Fairmont guidelines
  • Track and analyze competitive set pricing and yield strategies, gaining the ability to predict the comp set reaction to changes in the marketplace.
  • Plays an active role in the strategic planning, marketing plan, forecasting, and budgeting processes for both rooms and F&B
  • Chair and prepare materials for the weekly Revenue Management Meetings (rooms and F&B) and follow the Fairmont guidelines for meeting content.
  • Achieve potential market position through maximization of RevPar index over the determined competitive set
  • Supervise internal Reservations department through hiring, scheduling, performance management including reviews, initiating and supporting policies and procedures
  • Record competitive set pricing, yield strategies, and completes analysis on the market and its opportunities based upon the competition
  • Act as the main contact for Global Reservations
  • Monitor all aspects of room distribution (i.e.: Fairmont.com, GDS, OTA’s) to ensure rate parity, integrity, and revenue maximization
  • Maintain records pertaining to market segments, transient pace numbers, forecasts, casualty statistics, and other rooms data
  • Liaise with external agencies and partners in a highly professional manner
  • Participate in Executive Committee/Department Head/Sales & Catering meetings
  • Serve as a liaison between reservations/front desk/sales/catering
  • Participate in activities from corporate office or hotel relating to inventory control or revenue management
  • Adhere to all colleague health and safety responsibilities
  • Adhere to the hotel’s environmental policies and procedures
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned


Your experience and skills include:

  • Strategic thinking, long-range planning, and vision are foremost attributes with a strong analytical mindset
  • Must display strong analytical, organizational and administrative skills to be able to deal with multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proven experience in analysis, problem-solving, and moving strategy to action required
  • Demonstrated leadership, and communication skills essential
  • Comfortable in discussion forums; able to represent ideas succinctly and convincingly
  • Self-study and independent work ethics are required
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities under time restraints
  • Strong service skills and demonstrated ability to energize a diverse team of professionals
  • Strong experience or adaptable training in the use of automated systems, PCs, and office products, e.g. Excel, Word and vast knowledge of Fairmont Sales & Property Management automation including but not limited to PropertyManager, MFR, OXI Interfaces, Opera Sales & Catering, and myRPMS/IDeaS
  • 2 -3 years experience in Revenue Management
  • Sales experience is an asset
  • Front Office Supervisory or Managerial experience an asset
