What you’ll be doing:
This position is responsible for providing the comprehensive sourcing, supplier base and performance management in APO; developing procurement strategies, leading and directing related activities with the cross functional teams globally to achieve the company business goals. Additionally, this position will be a business partner/representative in APO for the specific BU to support and coordinate with other functions to drive the operational excellence and deliver the best value to the company.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the sourcing & procurement activities such as prices & terms negotiation, supplier selection, benchmarking and supply market analysis in Asia Pacific to supply the best-in-class products with lowest total cost, best quality and services for all BUs/RMOs globally.
- Lead and coach the sourcing team in Shenzhen
- Initiate and drive regular cost improvement programmes through the cross BU synergy and sourcing for new suppliers, negotiations with current suppliers, managing supplier eco-system to the next tiers (sub-suppliers).
- Ownership on key KPI such as purchase spending for the related categories/business unit, which include the purchase price variances (PPV) with bridge the gap strategies.
- Ownership and accountability of key initiatives such as supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, etc.
- Act as a driver on supplier scorecard; work with cross functional teams to identify the gap and develop a clear roadmap to drive the continuous improvements
- Active participation in new product business case justification, product introduction and end-of-life plans; also provide the professional solution on supplier selection
- Drive NPD including on time, on cost, on quality
- Identify marketing opportunities and derive supplier / category strategy, map competitive advantages over competitor's supplier strategies, market share, strengths and weaknesses.
- Establish strong business network and define long-term supplier base strategy. Lead process and system improvement programs and work with BPI/IT or related teams to eliminate the waste, improve the productivity, efficiency and quality of works.
- Lead operational excellence and innovation programs with suppliers to drive the continuous improvements on quality, productivity, service and new product innovation.
- Act as the APO focal point of contact to BU/RMO and work with cross functional teams to upgrade the partnership and overall services continuously
- Closely collaborate with business unit and corporate leadership to develop, gain approval for, and execute strategic product and supply chain plans
- Voice of the customer. Understand & communicate overseas Market, product category, retail environment
- Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence and market information garnered from component suppliers and competitor factories in order to help guide sourcing strategies and
maintain an up-to-date perspective on competitor activities
Experience and Skills requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in business management, supply chain/operations management, engineering or related field is required;
- Professional qualification in purchasing management or supply chain from the recognized organization is preferredd (i.e. CPM, MCIPS)
- Minimum of 7 years of strategic international sourcing,/merchandizing/ procurement management experience with min. 10 years in management role (MNC is preferred)
- Deep experience with Chinese factory operations, including product development engineering, production line set up and control, outbound logistics and factory audits
- Solid experience in buying office/trading and or manufacturing is preferred
- Business process & system improvement experience is required
- International sourcing/purchasing experience in China/Asia Pacific is required.
- Experience of sourcing housewares, kitchenware
- Excellent management skills and a strong leadership with proven success in building and driving a growth business are is required.
- Frequent travelling is required.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese
